I've been using La Mer for a little over 2 years now and I love it. I just bought my first kit of several different products. up until now I've only used the creme, the eye balm and the lip balm.

anyone else fanatical over La Mer? anyone hate the line? I'm interested to hear others' opinions.

I had used La Mer on and off for several years and it made absolutely no difference to my skin.

I liked the eye balm quite a bit but soon discovered Skinceuticals eye balm for a fraction of the price and it was just as hydrating as the La Mer.

I definitely think it is another over hyped skincare line that does not deliver.

If you get a jar of Nivea cream (the one made in Germany) you would be amazed at the similarities between that and La Mer cream even the scent is almost identical!!

I love La Mer. I have very sensitive skin with rosacea; I am 51 and my skin recently became dry, before it was combination skin. La Mer moisturizes, soothes, and calms my skin like no other cream that I have tried. I use the Crème de la Mer and the Concentrate. My skin is happy and for 51, I have very few lines. I do have some sun-damage, though. At night I use Remergent DNA Repair Serum under my La Mer.
I had used La Mer for 10 years, but, strayed due to skin cancer, etc. I am back now and my skin is really happy!
Really ~ for my skin La Mer, Sisley, and Avene are about the only lines that I have found that I can use consistently without causing a reaction on my skin.
I know some people think La Mer is hype, but, for certain skin types, it is a miracle!

I used CDLM for years, but it didn't do anything more than simply moisturizing it. There was certainly nothing miraculous about it. The only reason I kept on using it was it's good at moisturizing and I could use it all over my face, neck and around my eyes. I've since discovered so many products that work so much better and are much cheaper. I wasn't so impressed with their other products either.

Never used it. Checked it out at Douglass Cosmetics because they started carrying it and have sample jars.

Sorry, but I have to say, I'm amazed that people pay that amount of $$ for a product with a lot of petroleum-based ingredients Rolling Eyes If it works for you, IMO, you might have the same amount of luck with vaseline lotion, Eucerin, Aquaphor -- and save yourself a lot of money!

I was a long time user of CDLM and absolutely loved it. I found it very moisturizing, but since then I discovered Janson Beckett products and have abandoned CDLM. I find the JB line does a much better job of reducing lines, firming and toning etc.

wow. it's interesting to read some opinions. I guess that since I haven't really tried these other lines I don't know or maybe it's that I thought using something so expensive it's gotta be good and it's all in my head. I'm 27 and have always had great skin and I still do now and I always thought I had "normal" skin, but I'm faced with a couple of issues (dryness and fine lines around eyes; I'm really looking for something to address dryness around my cheeks/nose and the fine lines around my eyes) and maybe you guys can help me come up with a routine or suggest other products to use. I'll give you my am/pm routine

am
exfoliate (oil of olay)
shave (nivea)
moisturize (philosophy when hope is not enough spf 15)
eye treatment (philosophy hope in a tube)

pm
cleanse (wexler universal cleanser or philosophy purity)
tone (whatever I have)
serum (wexler pink serum)
moisturize (la mer)
eye treatment (la mer)

once a week I use wexler's microdermabrasion set

I was thinking of trying Baxter of California, but haven't been able to find any reviews anywhere. then I thought maybe I should try Clinique. what's the scoop on SkinCeuticals and IS Clinical that I've been reading so much about on these boards?

any suggestions or product lines I should try? I generally like to stay within a line and use everything, but, as you can tell, I've had to venture out of that a little.

I must have a good moisturizer in the morning with an spf in it since my face is dry and I shave every day. also need to be sure it won't irritate my face since I shave every day. also need something to address fine lines, a little puffiness and a little dark circles around the eyes. the overall texture and appearance of my skin is good, I think, but could be better with the right product.

thanks for listening/reading.

I wanted to like it especially for the money I have spent on, but it just didn't work for me. I didn't like the heavy texture at all.

My sister and I both have tried the cream and both broke out from it. I stuck with it for awhile because it was so expensive but had to stop because my skin got worse and worse.

Chiffonhead, you should not be put off using a product because it has not suited others or they think it is overpriced. The most important aspect of product usage is if you like using it and your skin likes it. I have a love of Valmont L Elixir Face and Eye creams and it never matters to me what others say about it because I love using it, my skin loves it and because of that, I always think my skin looks better for it.
If you really enjoy using La Mer then stay with it. The dryness may be coming from some of the daytime products you are using. Is there any reason why you don't use La Mer of a day too.

I've always loved CDLM. If cost was not a condsideration I'd slather it all over myself (petroleum and all!) Laughing I'd have everything from the line! Having said that, I've been very surprised with the great results I've gotten from much less expensive lines like PSF (awesome everything!) and Cellular Skin RX (first-rate peptide eye cream) both of these awesome lines are available at EDS....

I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands for ya'....(just teasing you)...Could you have been using too much? I found that a little goes a very long way....Some have described it as heavy...I always thought of it as very light; almost soufflé-like....I wish it wasn't so flipping expensive!

LOVE La Mer or should I say my skin loves it! just HATE the price tag! It clears up any issues on my face whiling hydrating my dry cheeks. I have tried soooo many moisturizers over the years looking for a cheap miracle but La Mer is still the forerunner! Cool

i luuurve it! I only use it around my eyes (as its so exy) but its done a fab job of lessening my lines, dark circles and most of all i have plump moisturised skin instead of dry flakies. No other eye cream has done this (mind u i tried the la mer eye cream and didnt like it as much as the face moisturiser).

so - are any of you game to try the 'make your own la mer' kit from that skinactives company? I mean, its so much cheaper but if it aint the same then i'd rather stick to the original.

Got to agree about the Nivea parallel. The moment I sampled La Mer Creme at the mu counter, I exclaimed to the guy helping me : "Nivea! YUM" Smile And he gave me a playfully sour look, "This ain't from a drugstore, honey."

But I knew I was onto something... Angel

I <3 Nivea. The basic blue jar. My friend from Barcelona says Nivea original lotion smells like the air in Spain.

La Mer is a gorgeous creme, but awfully steep.

I am surprised that La Mer contains petroleum-based ingredients! Shock Sometimes I was very shocked to see that even high end brands, even salon/spa quality products contain such cheap ingredients! The moment I see petrolatum, isoparaffin, mineral oil, etc., I run the other way. Wink

Thanks for all your info. I think maybe five years later I will try it. I guess it suits dry skin.

I've read a lot of hoopla about La Mer and I'm curious to try it. I'm heading to the city in a few weeks. Where can I pick up a sample in Winnipeg?
