Can you tell me what's a broken capillary and what does it look like? Is it like a tiny tiny red dot (one shrunken pore size but reddish). How can you get rid of it? Thanks. |

I always thought they were more of a vein looking red line. I think that's what I have around my nose. So I did a quick internet search and here's a couple photos I found.
This one is a picture of what I assumed they looked like. http://www.epione.com/epione/flash/concerns.htm?concern_id=7
This picture is of the small red dots you are speaking of. Looks like it is called petechia, "a small red or purple spot on the body, caused by a minor hemorrhage (broken capillary blood vessels)". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Petechia I acutally have a few of these on my lower neck area and always thought they were a type of mole. |

I have one that looks like petechia --just one ever tiny red dot, but slightly sunken(like a pore) almost even, but more sunken than raised. I don't know how to get rid of it. It doesn't bother me at all, since no one can even see it w/o having to be literally in my face and examine, but I was just curious if there's a way to get rid of it. |

How long have you had it? I was reading the wrote up in wikipedia and it says "Petechiae in adults should always be quickly investigated. They can be interpreted as vasculitis, an inflammation of the blood vessels, which requires immediate treatment to prevent permanent damage. Some malignancies can also cause petechiae to appear. In anyone over eighteen, petechiae should be investigated by a physician within a day or so to rule out the more dangerous conditions." Not sure if only only one is to worry about though. Now I'm wondering if I should mention mine to my doctor, although I have had mine for at least a year so if it was a malignancy then I would probably know by now. |

Blimey! A year or so ago, one of those petechia appeared on my side and there have been a few more (in different places) since. Never thought about asking the doc about them. |

i went to see my derma when it originally looked like an inflamed folliculitis, but he said to leave it alone and it went away on its own after 2 weeks. then it became like a "pore" but reddish. he said it may be PIH, (post inflamatory). I don't think i have petechia. It's not reaised, it's just like ONE single pore but brownish/reddish (sort of like a post acne scar?) It's been like that for 3 weeks now, and became smaller, but it hasn't faded completely. It's just extremely tiny, a lot smaller than my other PIH, and unlike my other PIH, it's slightly sunken (again like a pore). |
