Well, everyone knows the hype surround this serum. I managed to score the last bottle of it at my local Target...bought it on a whim. Though my recent visits to Target have made me realize it is becoming more readily available.

I'm 27 and am concerned with prevention, so I cannot attest to the effectiveness of the firming and tightening of this serum. At first I was kicking myself for even buying it as I didn't think I needed it. But boy am I glad I did!!!

First off, there has been some confusion over the British version and the US version. While it has been mentioned in other threads, I'd like to reiterate it here.
The British Version that everyone raves about is Protect and Perfect and the American version of this serum is the Restore and Renew. There is another serum by the name of Refine and Rewind This is NOT the serum that was flying off shelves in the UK. Refine and Rewind is a stronger serum, but not the one that is the equivalent of Protect and Perfect.

In addition, there is a slight variation in formulation with the last (and active) ingredient. The British version has Matrixyl, a pentapeptide, while the U.S. version has two other peptides instead of the Matrixyl, which Boots claims will give the same results as the British version.

Back to the Restore and Renew. I've been using this serum for a few weeks and I must say, it's wonderful. My face is brighter, more even in tone, and this serum does not break me out. In fact it helps counteract the negative effects I experienced with Jan Marini Bioclear cream (which I love, but it can get a little intense). I was having some redness and peeling, and this serum helped clear it up. My pores even appear less noticeable (nothing can truly shrink your pore size) and my foundation goes on much more smoothly. I have an extra bottle that I'm debating on sending to my mum, or keeping it for myself. But I might send it to her so she can try it and give it a go for wrinkle reduction (she's in her 60s).

I'm very glad I purchased this and it has made its own niche in my skincare routine. I was using it around my eyes (though it says not to) but I've since found an eye cream I'm sampling and will review at a later date once I use the sample up.

I use it twice a day and my skin is softer and just great! I love that I haven't gotten any breakouts and my face freaks out easily. I went to NYC last week and prior to leaving, just a mere mention of the humidity (which was relative low, but compared to the desert it was a rain forest!) a zit or two would appear. I'm happy to note though that I successfully had a somewhat clear face my entire trip thanks to a great routine I helped build through help from forum members.

Info from Boots website:

Reviews from MUA, there are only three:
http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=92187/NO7_Restore_&_Renew_Beauty_Serum/Boots_/Treatments

The serum is around 20-23 dollars and can be purchased at Target and some CVS Pharmacys (I haven't found the Boots line at the CVS stores that I frequent, it's cheaper at Target anyway). I have been very happy with the Boots products I've tried!!!

Paris -- will you please tell me what your AM/PM routine is?

I normally hate to layer anything under my sunscreen in the morning, but now that I'm back to using my Taz (alternate nights with my Bioclear) I need a lil' somethin' to help with the flakies. I'm using the JM Trans serum but it's $$$.

TIA
Marla

Boots Restore and Renew
Ari's Home Spa Age Prevent eye cream
Sunscreen (varies between Nuance Up and Solbar)
Boots Deeply Moisturizing lip care
LM Tinted Moisturizer or Silk Creme foundation (depending on the temp and where I will be)
Makeup

PM:
Wash face (Silken Pearl Cleansing balm or Shu Uemura)
Jan Marini Bioclear
Boots Restore and Renew
Ari's Home Spa Age Prevent eye cream
Boots lip care

i've wanted to try this product, but have been hesitant because i've heard it contains a lot of silicon in it (which, for me, leads to pore clogging). is that true?

I'm super breakout prone...yes this does have 'cones in it (not sure how much, it has dimethicone in it), but I haven't had any problems with this at all.

However, if you are sensitive to them, this product might not be for you. I know that even if something doesn't break me out, it might have the opposite reaction for someone else. I know that some stuff I've tried that didn't break another person out wrecked my face.

I realized that my link above didn't work. It should be copy and pasted into a browser as for some reason it is not completing the link when I click on it.

i'm uk-based and the hype over here on this product was incredible a couple of months back. product junkie that i am, i of course bought it (the protect & perfect uk version as opposed to the confusingly renamed us version, as paristroika rightfully explains in her review).

at nearly 45, with good skin just now starting to show some signs of aging, i'd have thought i was the perfect candidate to test the effectiveness of this product. i can't say i've seen any difference, and - as the quote above suggests - there does indeed appear to be a lot of silicone in it (which i think some women have confused with "smoother-feeling" skin).

i've got half a bottle left and have ditched it from my beloved retin-a regime.

well, I bought one when it first came out in Canada, AND I RETURNED IT. that's before I heard about all the hype. I just simply did not like the texture. it left a very filmy feeling on my face. now that I learned all the hype, I wish I had kept the bottle cuz now I can't get one anywhere.

Target got a whole bunch of restore and renew in so I bought a tube.I paid 21.99 plus tax. I put some on this morning and I like the way it feels...must be the silicones. Its very affordable compared to other skin products and i really like that it comes in a tubes, NOT a pump;its easier to control how much you want to use and not waste.Just started it today so dont know long term results yet.

My Target just got more too. I noticed they changed the packaging, but it's 1 oz.
