I have just begun to use Skinbio's Super GHK-Copper Serum and was told to take Vitamin C & MSM daily to promote the effects of the copper peptide (Vitamin C is essential for building collagen in the skin). Rather than worry about pills or capsules, I bought the powdered version of Vitamin C and MSM so that I can ingest larger amounts of both effortlessly. I simply add 1/4 teaspoon of my Vit-C powder (which is equivalent to 1000 mgs), and 1/2 teaspoon of MSM powder (equivalent to 2500 mgs) to my morning greens+protein shake. I then follow-up with a second dose of both powders (that I add to spring water) in the early PM but only use half of the AM amounts. I would suggest that you divide your daily dose as well, so that you take 500 mg's in the AM and 500 mg's in PM as Vitamin C only remains in your body for approximately 6-8 hours, after which it is totally excreted. This is why ingesting large doses all at once, one time a day, isn't necessarily the most effective way of gaining all the benefits it can offer.
As others here have stated, 1000 mgs (which is 1 gram) of Vitamin C, is not considered a lot. In fact most doctors will tell you to take at least 500 mg's daily. In Dr. Perricone's book, "The Perricone Prescription", he suggests that people over 50 years of age take 3000-5000 mgs of Vitamin C daily!
Now that summer is here and fresh produce is abundant, I am eating a lot more of my favorite foods that contain Vitamin C. Here is a quick list of great food sources that contain Vitamin C (in case you are looking for additional ways to up your Vitamin C naturally!). HTH's!
Top Food Sources that contain Vitamin C:
*red bell peppers (150 mg)
*orange juice (125 mg/8 oz)
*green bell peppers (95 mg)
*papayas (85 mg/half)
*strawberries (85 mg/cup)
*oranges (70 mg each) |
