With a towel, or should I let it air dry?

Thanks.

I use a towel to pat dry my face gently. I never rub my face against the towel, except for my lips. I do find rubbing does a good exfoliation job on the lips.

Don't let your face air dry - it will take more moisture out of your skin rather than just the surface.

I pat down with a towel too. I use a different towel for my face than for the rest of my body - a softer one, of course. It doesn't dry 100%, but it feels really nice.

I always pat my face dry with a towel, but I use a clean one in the morning and another clean one at night. I never use the same one twice as I have acne prone skin and have become a little paranoid when it comes to germs.

sharons, you're my hero! Very Happy I pat my face dry with a small washcloth dedicated ONLY for facial use, changing to a new one each day. You may have inspired me to go and get 7 more washcloths so I can change them out twice a day!

athena123 you've made me blush. What a lovely thing to say. Very Happy I must admit, I have tried tissues, but I always end up with bits left on my face.

I gently pat dry. If you let your face air dry it will dehydrate your skin.

I have let my face air dry for years. There is too much chance of bacteria transfer with towels, IMHO. I suppose, though, that it would depend upon how reactive your skin is. I don't even use a wash cloth twice ... because I do my best to keep the bacteria that disrupts my skin away from it. Bathrooms tend to be humid places ... and a great breeding ground for bacteria.

I disagree that letting your skin air dry dehydrates it ... just from a common sense perspective that doesn't make sense to me.

However, I generally take advantage of the damp skin to apply oils, creams etc which then seal in the moisture. I find it helps my creams/lotions etc apply better and work better ultimately.

I was drying my face this weekend and wondering if it was making my acne worse so I started to air dry.

If anything I would use a fresh towel every time.

I always towel dry my face, as letting it dry by itself makes my skin somewhat tight (nothign to do with the cleanser though) and I cant stand waiting around to let my face dry naturally.

I have a stack of cotton towels and face cloths and change them all the time. I have so many that I can pile them up and wash a bunch together.

That is what I learned in a beauty salon. One should dry her face with towel, if one uses airdry, water in one's face will also evaporate, then the face will lose the water. Also every time after washing the face, one should use toner to balance the ph of the skin.
