Hey all,
can anyone staying in London tell me if there's any beautiful visiting area 2 or 3 hours from London that's worth visiting? I'm more into natural places.. I'll be travelling to London for 6 days 5 nights.. Any suggestions will be helpful. Of course, if anyone knows any cheap and nice hotels, feel free to tell.. Thanks heaps.. |

Do you mean for day trips outside London, or for a short stay?
Although I've been to London quite a few times, I don't really know the surrounding area at all. Will have a think, though.
I assume you'll be using public transport? (Car driving and parking is an absolute nightmare in London itself - plus there's the dreaded congestion charge.) |

Oxford, Cambridge or Canterbury are relatively near to London, accesible by public transport, and worth to visit. What about Stratford-upon-Avon (Shakespeare) or Windsor/Eton ?
Or you can take the tub and go to Kew (a wonderful and huge botanical garden, where I can easily spend a day), or go for a walk to Richmond & neighborhood (I spent an entire Sunday there, when I visited London in May).
Have fun ! |

| If you mean a dry trip then I'd suggest maybe Stonehenge & Bath. I can't remember what company I went with but it was a really nice trip and I'd highly recommend visiting both places if you have not yet done so. I'm not sure if Bath qualifies as a "natural place" for you but it has some lovely scenery. |
