I've been trying to get avene's SPF 50+ spray with tinosorb and for one, i'm not finding many sites with it..and another, it's crazy expensive. i found one site that was good (boots) but i live in the US and it wouldnt let me buy it. So i suppose the only way a US citizen can buy the good stuff is to pay out of the ass:( im not spending 40+ dollars and waiting more than a month on top of that to get a sunscreen (that was my other option)..
Can someone give me some tips on better findings? My poor skin is suffering |

Some sunscreens (it seems like all the good ones!) are not available on the US market. La Roche Posay has one I've been wanting to try for awhile.
Because of that...those of us Stateside have no choice but to order overseas...which tends to be quite pricey factoring in exchange rates and shipping.
Sad I know! I'm with ya on that one!!! |

I really want the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer SPF 70 with Helioplex, but as far as I know, it's only available in the States. Has anyone seen it around in Vancouver? |

I'm not interested in any of the sunscreens in the states because they pretty much all contain avobenzone which my mineral makeup will degrade. So my best bet is probably the avene spray right now because i've been liking this other spray sunscreen i have. a lot less messy! |

purpleturtle the Avene sprays are a bit greasy/shiny. Their 50+ emulsion is way better. |

Hi Carol
Have you tried the lotion/lait? Or the cream?
Which do you think is more greasy?
Thanks! |

I had a friend that just went to Paris. She brought me back five Bioderma products. It's shocking how affordable these sunscreens really are, I've been paying almost double the price for them! |

Yes ive tried the lait, didnt really like it. I find the new reformulated emulsion the best Avene product ive tried to date. My skin feels moisturised but its not greasy/heavy/shiny. And its about time they did something to improve their sunscreens! |

I buy my Avene and Bioderma products from skincarecentral. Prices are reasonable, and they ship fast! I love the Bioderma AKN spray! |

Same here, and I love the new Avenes, the spf 20 is a daily staple & the 50 for when I'm out in the sun. Skincarecentral has the best prices & fast shipping. Samples are also available. |

I wish the website I want to buy from stocks the emulsion spf50, but they only have the spf20 ...maybe I'm going to try the lait and if I dont like it, I can use it on my body! |

What you do Purpleturtle is forget about the brand names. Look for the CHEAPEST you can find; as long as it has the ingredients in it to protect you from uva/uvb and now some say even uvc sun rays is sufficient. No need to spend a fortune on spf. Having said this, Cetaphil spf 15 makes a reasonably priced sunscreen. |

uvc? If uvc rays penetrated the ozone, I think we'd all be..dead?
im avoiding anything with avobenzone..so thats my problem. I wear mineral makeup so i have an spf of 15-20 a day from that. i also apply before im in school, in the middle, and right before i leave there. im there about 9 hours a day:/ |

UVC rays are absorbed by the upper atmosphere. They don't typically reach the earth's surface so any company that claims they protect against UVC is misleading the consumer.
The atmosphere protects against UVC...the ozone to be exact. They are shorter UV waves that are sometimes used in lab setting etc. to kill germs. They are extremely harmful to DNA.
How do I know? I'm married to an astrophysicist |

Hey ParisTroika,
That is so cool being married to an astrophysicist. How would downunder (NZ in my case) stand being under the ozone "hole" so to speak - would your DH have any thoughts? Finding a really good sunscreen is quite hard - all the Neutrogena ones just don't cut it for me - always looks like I've got colour if I've been caught in the sun. |

You're not the only one! My skin simply cannot stand Neutrogena sunblock, despite how highly reviewed/rated many of them are (I've tried the Healthy Defense, Ultra Sheer SPF 30 and Ultra Sheer SPF 55 and they all irritate my skin, cause breakouts, and leave a general unpleasant, smelly greasy film on my skin. I'm back to Olay Complete Defense SPF 30. |

If you are looking to buy La Roche-Posay, you may save a few bucks by go for its drugstore double - Ombrelle instead. The spf 45 lotion and spf 60 cream, both brands have the exact ingredient list and order. After all they are made by the same company. So why not go for the cheaper one. |
