I hope people won't think I'm just a self promotor 'cause I'm new and I'm saying this but apparently 302 skin care is based on avocado oil/extract. The line is against AHAs and retinols (against the idea of peeling and resurfacing).

I've heard that it's only really good for dry / mature or dehydrated skin types. I cehcked out the website a long time ago but didn't think any of the products would suit my combination breakout skin.

But if anyone has tried it, I would like to know what the results were like! Smile

Try PCC Natural Markets (many locations), or Rainbow Natural Remedies or Madison Market (both on Capitol Hill). You don't have to be a member to shop at any of those places, though I do think you get a discount if you have a membership. If you want even more Seattle references for stuff like this, PM me - I tend to chronicle them and I can probably find you someplace in the neighborhood of your choosing. Smile

They have it in bulk at Zenith Supplies so you can get as little or as much as you need. (I just found out about Zenith a week ago and it's my new favorite store. They have tons of base oils and butters and lots of containers for my various potions)

I just bought some and am really exited to try it. I hope everyone will check in with any results/non results.

I massaged my face with this oil last night as I was having a bath, and I must say my skin looks very hydrated and smooth today!

Catski, please let us know if the oil helps or not. Are you suffering from melasma or just sunspots?

SylphideNoir, thank you for the report on the chemical components. Everything I've been buying separately, plus more, is in the avocado oil.

My bottle is from Olivado Gourmet Foods in New Zealand, 100% extra virgin, cold pressed. 8.45 oz. I paid about $12 for it in the salad oil section of the grocery store. That's less than 71cents an oz.

Thank you thank you -- I think you're the second EDSer to mention it, but I just never get over there since I'm no longer in that neighborhood. I'll have to check it out, though, it's overdue. Thanks again!

I just posted here about a new shave oil and body moisturizing oil that I made, using both unrefined soy and avocado oils.

I'm not prone to keratoses per se, but I do get KP (annoying bumpy skin largely due to superdry follicles/buildup), and this seems to be helping somewhat. Plus, avocado just feels WAY more moisturizing than many other oils I've tried. I use it on my face too, but in combo with some other oils better suited to my skin, and I love it. It has more of a wintertime feel than a summertime one, but it's nice to have something so rich for my sometimes flake-prone skin.

I can't believe I'm just seeing this thread again- weeks of computer disaster after I posted my success with the avocado oil.

Anyway, michelc asked what prompted me to try this for keratoses and the truth is, I didn't really try it for that. I was just trying to use something for aging skin, never figuring it would do anything to my little brown dots. A nice surprise.

Now I want to try it out on my face, which I've been chicken to do. I have big pored, oily skin on my face with lots of redness. A retinol product from neutragena has been plumping up the wrinkles but leaving me ruddier. What a trade-off. I'm tempted to try the a. oil- anyone had bad breakouts with it? I already use it on my hair, and after years of bad box dyes, I think that's what brought my hair back.
Am I brave enough to try it on the face?

I have been using the Avocado Oil on my legs and arms for a month or so with nice results so now I have just started using a bit on my face as well, with no problems. However, I do have skin that gets dry in the winter, as opposed to your oilier skin...

I have been using avocado oil after reading your post nette and at first was very hopeful as some of those pesky skin items shrank. However, then they stopped about halfway and there has been no more improvement Sad
I still like the oil and use it on my skin daily instead of other, probably more expensive, lotions like Ahava. So thanks for the tip, but I wish it had worked out all the way for me. Wonder what the connection between keratoses, sun spots, cysts, moles etc. is that avocado oil could do something for them. Even partial help is welcome. Did anyone else use this and get different results from mine? Would love to hear.

I use cold-pressed unrefined avocado oil (it is deep green colored, not the golden colored refined version) on my face, and I too have large pores and oily skin. I've not had a problem at all. The avocado oil has actually helped keep my skin breakout-free, and it has made my pores much smaller and less noticeable. It also helps heal any break-outs or irritations much faster. As well, my sensitive skin is less ruddy, less red and less inflamed. I love this oil!

Wow! Have to try it out! Jojoba and Apricot Kernel oils do nothing for me - infact I feel they dry out my skin Sad But if this can eliminate brown spots! Woo-hoo! Off to whole foods tomorrow!

Nero,

I just wanted to get clear- which condition were you talking about? The brown spots or skin redness? Avocado oil really has helped the brown spots- not all gone, but much much better. The ruddiness on my face has been helped by cleansing without sulfates, by using oil cleansing method and one drop of jojoba spread on face for day.

This forum has been more help than I can tell you- read for awhile, do searches, and you'll get some great ideas.

I've been using 302 over 3 years now. I had to stop using acids completely because you cannot use acids with this line. I have very oily, acne prone skin, and I use their line of products for oily and acne skin, the Face/Body bar (my HG cleanser), Acne Cleanser, 302 Serum, Acne Drops, C Boost, and A Boost. You may wonder what a C and A serum is doing in their line if they are so against acids. They are not against using retinols or vitamin C. My understanding is that the form of C and A they use are gentler, non-acid forms. Specifically, retinol and retinyl palmitate in the A Boost, and I think MAP in the C Boost. They are against the overuse of the retin-A type products. According to them, they should only be used once or twice a week at most. By following the protocols suggested, I've never had any problems with irritation or breakouts. If anything, my skin is now balanced, not oily, not dry. But I use spironolactone too, and that helps with the oil as well.

I totally love what the 302 products has done for my skin. It is healthy looking, plump, not wrinkled. I have no real hyperpigmention issues. I'm 53 in June, and I'm very, very happy with the condition of my skin. The products use a patented ingredient made from avocado pits, not the fruit or skin. It's fairly expensive to make, so the products are not cheap, but they go a long way because you don't use them everyday.

But I have to warn you that this line may not be for everyone because they have an unconventional skin care philosophy. You cannot use it if you are allergic to avocados of course. Also, you have to buy it from an esthetician and follow the protocols precisely. That is, be off acids entirely, go through a transition period if you were a heavy acid user. They recommend rotation of cleansers (2 or 3), and to rotate the use of the actives in their line. I only use 1 topical a night and then nothing during the day. I don't even wear liquid sunscreen except mineral makeup with SPF 15. The only time I wear sunscreen is when I'm in prolonged exposure at the beach. I alternate with Osmosis, a company with a similar philosophy about skincare - that overexfoliation of the epidermis, whether by acid peels or manual peels is not good for the skin in the long run. They theorize that any improvement seen is a result of microinflammation and does not help prevent the the true cause of aging, which occurs in the dermal layer. And that once you stop using these products, the problems return; the wrinkles and brown spots come back, maybe worse than before. That's the theory at least.

For me, I have come to the conclusion that this philosophy has validity. I find that the less I do to my skin, and the more I mix up the routine, the better it looks. It's great because I no longer have to put on 5 products each day and night. My routine is very simple and fast now. If you want to learn more, check out the Osmosis and 302 Skin Care websites. Quite a bit of interesting information on both of them.

I have been reading alll of the posts here and you've convinced me to purchase the avocado oil from Garden of Wisdom. I feel like a bad girl, though! I told myself I wasn't buying anything else until I finished what I currently used. Couldn't help myself. My plan was to finish what I am using right now and then do some DIY stuff. I'm going to incorporate the oil in my current routine and see how it goes. Thanks so much for sharing this tip. With all of the wonderful benefits, it definitely can't hurt to try it!

The beauty of trying avocado oil is that if you dislike it for your skin, you can always cook with it! Laughing Can't say that for many other skincare products that don't work out!

I also think the skincare philosophy of 302 is very sound, although I think you can get comparable results from using cold-pressed avocado oil instead of the 302 Drops. Also, non-acid antioxidants like MAP (magnesium ascorbyl form of vitamin C) are helpful. But I agree that acids and overexfoliation are probably bad for skin, and that acids cause inflammation which does indeed damage and age skin in the long run.

I think reading about the 302 Skincare philosophy is useful, though.

i just wanted to chime in here and let you know that i have now been using 302 for the past 10 days (i think). i will have to say that for me this is the best skincare line i have used. i'm 37 so that's saying a fair bit although i've not really tried the more expensive lines, more drugstore and department store brands save for some samples of perricone and z.bigatti. i did venture into the more adventurous route in the last 10 months by using AHAs and BHAs and have found that acids and my skin don't seem to agree with each other. i even tried acidified amino acids, which is supposedly milder but as affective as AHA's, but still ended up with red irritated blotchy skin.

well 10 days of using 302 and my skin has calmed down A LOT, and is plumper and smoother. i never thought i would ever leave the house without foundation (i have red acne scars and large pores and very acne-prone) but since using 302 i have used only pearl powder and avoided the sun as much as i can (i ran out of MMU but my meow mmu is on the way). and i don't really mind! i had an 'ugly' period when i started, but i knew that this was to be expected so i just weathered it out.

i'm currently using the transition products and as soon as i finish these, will start on the acne cleanser, the acne drops and the mist.

i normally always have at least 2 pimples during that TOTM, well my TOTM started 2 days ago and no pimples this time yay!!!

fingers crossed i have found my HG for skincare all thanks to you boski and this board!!!!

Hi Cahoot!

Good to hear from you. Are you getting protocol information from 302 or an esthetician? It sounds like you are, so that is good. Be patient, follow instructions, and you will get incredible results. Alot of people get the products online and buy the wrong thing or use them incorrectly and get no results or bad results. It's such a contradictory way of thinking about skincare, it's hard to adjust to for some.

They didn't have the transition products when I started, so I had to cold turkey off the acids and other products I was using. I was using AHA and BHA everyday and my skin was red and blotchy too. I was also using Copper Peptides. It was too much for my skin. After a week of 302, of just using the Face/Body bar and the drops, my skin calmed down too. It was quite fast for me too. Even my usually not so astute husband asked me what I had done to my face, because my skin looked plumper, more refreshed. So I think you are a quick "responder" like me and will get good results.

If you are prone to TOM breakouts, I hope you explore the idea of spironolactone. I was getting pesky chin breakouts too, but those have all since stopped since I started on 100 mg of spiro. Go to the acne.org thread on the spiro and read up on others experience with it. It's fairly inexpensive if you have insurance and has a long track record of safety.

Keep posting on your 302 experience too Very Happy
