I've already posted this on the EDS Lounge but didn't get much response - so forgive me, I'm re-posting here.

Does anyone have one of these exercise machines? There's allot of buzz about them at the moment. Kylie and Madonna are supposed to use one - the Powerplate, which is around $6,000 but now there are cheaper models coming on the market that are made in China. The one I saw at the local mall was called the Vibroform. I had a go on it and it shook the living daylights out of me - I could definitely feel all my fat jiggling! I'd love this to be of benefit because I currently can't use my other exercise machine because of a bad hip - these vibrating machines are supposed to be very gentle on the joints but I'm inclined to think that they're just hype - any info would be appreciated.

Here's some info on the Powerplate:

But now there are much cheaper versions on the market such as the Power Tonic:

There's also this, which is considerably cheaper and I think it looks more fun: http://www.humantouchboard.co.uk/main

the power plate is a real phenomenon here in Paris--almost every spa offers "power plate" sessions. it's like pilates or yoga in the states.

still don't really understand how it works, though!

I just read about this in W. Apparently,it does work and has been widely used in Japan for years. There are a few spas in New York that have the WBV machines. I definitely want to try it because I'm just too lazy for traditional exercise. Smile

I bought the Power Plate Vibrating machine a while back. It is actually quite difficult to use as you have to do exercises whilst on it, and it's very intense! I sold mine as I started getting numbness in my fingers and I read that vibration can cause this. To be honest it sounded brilliant but I was quite disappointed with it, and never saw any noticeable results after using it for a couple of months.
