Hi, I have heard conflicting stories about mmu.

Does it look good on anyone over 40? I have heard it can actually enhance wrinkles???

If there is an awesome mmu out there, which one do you prefer?

Hey pippi, tons of information re: MMU on this forum. There are some who've found it doesn't work for them.

I'm 42 years old, oily skin and it's perfect for me! For drier skin, you'll want to moisturize very well and let it sink in for about 5 minutes before applying MMU.

I had to try a couple different brands to find something that didn't make my face itch and to come up with the perfect shade. If you apply too much or choose a shade too light, it'll definitely settle in your wrinkles, even reflect off them and make you look older than your years. That was the effect I got when I tried BE, plus the bismuth contained in BE made my face itch, look shiny and it appeared as if there were SCALES on my forehead, yuch!!

I use Everyday Minerals intensive formula and absolutely love it! I've also heard great things about Alima and Meow. All of these companies have great sample programs, so you can find the right shade, see if it works for you without spending a ton of $$.

I wish I'd known about MMU years ago, it would have saved me so much aggravation.

Good luck, you're on the beginning of a new * spam alert * Smile

I am more than mature Laughing and have dryish skin and found Alima too light [as in weight], LaurEss was better, but UGloGirl the best for ripe age. Check the Forum, that's how I heard about UGlo being better for dry skin.Don't forget to blend for 2 minutes and then mist. Really helps.

I wanted to love mineral makeup and bought philosophy everyday and Bare Escentuals
No good for me I'm afraid. I have combination skin and am 48. It just was too drying for me and really accentuated any lines.
Made me itch as well.
I like to look dewy and have gone back to bobbi brown moisturizing makeup. I do the mineral makeup to cover spots on my chin. This is great and stays put all day

I'm 43 and use Alima mineral makeup. In the morning I wash my face, use ADCE on my face and eye cream under my eyes-I give that 10-15 mins or so to soak in, then I use Alima. I don't think it makes me look older.....my face is on the oily side, maybe that's what makes the difference???

I used Everyday Minerals and BareFaced over moisturiser for about a year and at first they worked well but eventually I found they seemed to suck what little moisture my normal-dry mature skin contained, leaving me with flaky red areas. I've since switched back to my Nars Balanced when I want to do a full face. Like katebargold I do use mmu for spot covering.

You're getting some good advice here.
I'm 59 dry,but large pores on nose area.
I started with BareMinerals and it just didnt work. But,the moisturizer, blending and the mist really does help. Now, if I would stop spilling it on my clothes.
I will be looking at UGlo now. Wink
Love idea that it is good for your skin.

I have dry skin with oily T-zone and large pores on cheeks. I have tried one time the Everyday Minerals Make Up. It made my face so shiny and accentuated my pores so much I washed it off at midday!!

I never tried any other brands after that. I also notice that most good reviews on Mineral MU are from oily skin type members?

I'm 42 and I started using MMU only 7-8 months ago and I love it. My skin is oily and acne-prone, so MMU is just perfect for me. I have to say that applying silk/pearl powder primer before MMU and pearl powder mist over MMU makes a big difference in the final result.
Good luck! R. Smile

I'm 47 and just started using MMU. My experience is that finding the formulation and shade that suits you and applying the "right" amount makes a difference. The first few days, I applied far too much, my face itched and the pores really looked big. Then I read some of the posts on this forum about people's experiences and realized that I should apply a lot less. That did make a difference, it didn't itch anymore and looked a lot better (including the pores). If you apply too much and it gets inside the pores, the powders tend to light up the pores because of their light-reflecting properties. I have oily/combination skin and sometimes flakey because I'm on retinoids by prescription (not for acne though). I'm using Everyday Minerals Intensive and Semi-matte. Using a silk powder as primer and also as finishing powder helps and if you have pores or fine lines, you can also consider using a silicone based concealer like Lumiere healing concealer, that can help to "fill in" the pits before applying the powder. You can also consider liquid minerals or minerals mixed into a cream base. Someone had recommended this websitewww.monave.com They have cream formulations that sound good for dry skin, the ingredients in the cream are not bad and certainly contain less harsh chemicals and preservatives than conventional liquid foundations. There are certainly a lot of choices out there. You can do your homework and enjoy trying the samples, even though some turn out to be a disappointment. I considered it a challenge to make MMU work for me, but so far, it's less of a disaster than I anticipated, considering my large pores.
