Ok guys here's my situation. I'm very fair skinned and have freckles(have Irish in me). Is it possible for someone with very fair skin that has lots of Irish in them to get a tan? If so what's the method you would recommend?
Second question, are spray on/fake tans a complete waste of time? Or are some actually decent looking? If so what would you recommend.
Thanks! |

Hi,
First I have to recommended that you not go outside or to tanning booths to get some color. As we all know the damaging effects of UV rays and from the description of your skin, you will burn!!!!
Self tanners are the only way to go in this day of skin cancer and pre-mature aging. I have tried a few and have been very happy with the results. My skin is fair and usually burns outside.
Body Drench Whipped Chocolate Mousse and Flawliss were both very nice however, they were tinted a bronze color which stained my clothes and bedding for days after.
Then I tried my favorite, Alba Botanica Sun Golden Sunless Tanning Lotion. I got it from the health food store but they do have a web site. The is a white cream wich spreads very nice and develops into a beautiful golden tan within a few hours. And it didn't stain my clothes. Just wash your hands carefully after you apply and wait for it to dry.

I apply this is the evening after I shower, shave and exfoliate. Then I apply and relax until bedtime. When you wake up, a beautiful golden tan.
For my face, I prefer Jurlique Bronzer lotion and MAC Bronzing Powder.
Hope this helps!!!!! |

How much do you use a day? Does this cost a lot of money to keep up? Also how long does the golden tan last, til you take a shower?
Do you have to be really careful when applying it as to not get too much in a certain area? Or what, thanks! |

Just make sure you moisturise well, on eyebrows, hairline, ankles, elbows, feet & Toes and hands.
St Tropez, Decleor and Ecotan are all excellent and don't go orange. Remember to exfoliate as well. My self tans last for about 4 days, I then exfoliate and apply more. I also moisturise everyday. |

Ok, and the tanning stuff won't rub off during sex right? Now that'd be embarassing...
What's some ex-foliating products you'd recommend, in fact, what are all the essential products I should use in order to take the self-tanning to it's full advantage? I'm pretty new to all this stuff so, thanks for any help! |

hahaha Well I suppose its how energetic you are when having sex and how hot and sweaty you get, just dont do it more than 5 times a night!!!
I always moisturise with either L'Occitane body cream or Gatineau body firming cream. Always put loads of it on ankles, elbows, eyebrows, feet, toes and hands.
I exfoliate with Decleor body exfoliator or Ecotan body scrub. On my face I use Gatineau exfoliator. |

I use St Tropez for my body and it gives me a nice deep natural color. I have not tried tanning booths - mainly because, given that the tan will only last about a week, it becomes too expensive to maintain.
And btw, once you wash off the initial overnight application of St Tropez, it's there for a few days and fades gradually. It's not going to come off all of a sudden at the hint of any friction

| Hey thanks guys I appreciate it. But to be honest I'm pretty broke right now, how much will all these products run me and how often will I have to buy them? Thanks for any replies! |

Based on EDS pricing the 4oz St Tropez is around CAD$30. It should last you about 4 to 5 applications I guess. I mainly do my legs so I couldn't tell you exactly.
I don't know the prices for the other products sorry.

Is self-tanning effective for covering scars? I have read a lot of the posts on the site and am a bit unsure of what type of self tanner (St. Tropez, Clarion, Palmres, etc.)I could use on my legs to cover scars?
I appreciate any feedback. |

Try Airstocking. I use it to cover the blemishes on my legs which were left by ingrowing hairs and it works brilliantly. It's an instant spray tan, and it's water-resistant, but does come off if you wash well with soapy water. |

| Datasmi, I've found that self-tanners emphasize some scars so I think you'll get better results if you use Airstocking like Majorb suggests. |

Hi, I just bought the St. Tropez products for personal use and I did the following steps:
1. Body Polisher
2. Body Moisturizer on dry areas (knees, feet, ankles, elbows and hands)
3. Auto-bronzant lotion
The first time the color was good. The next day I took a shower and I applied the auto-bronzant lotion again for a darker look and I began to notice white spots on the upper part of my arms (between elbows and shoulders) and they are increasing as time goes by. Could you please tell me what´s going on?, What did I do wrong?, What do you suggest me to correct the problem?, Should I need more moisturizer?, Should I need to polish everytime before applying the auto-bronzant lotion even if I apply it three consecutive days?
I´ll wait for your answers.
Thank you very much,
Sincerely.
