I just got a big train case at Sephora (no idea why they call them that) - there were three sizes and I went for the middle one:

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P76701&categoryId=S5000&shouldPaginate=true

I found the layout was actually a bit better than the bigger, more expensive one. It still only BARELY fits all of my stuff, haha, but I have so many products I don't use regularly that have just accumulated over the years. It's nice though - really solid, good design with movable dividers, and nice and deep and thick sturdy buckles. Plus it has a removable shoulder strap (that I doubt I'll ever use, but hey, figured I'd letcha know).

I used to keep all my makeup in this loose nylon bag stuffed in a drawer, and I would have to dig for ages to find the right stuff, plus all my powder would come out of the sifters even if I kept a puff on top, and some of my eye shadows got shattered by my frantic AM rush to find the right tube of mascara or whatever. Now it's all neat and organized, and I keep the thing under my sink, so I have a whole new free drawer to fill with hair things! Very Happy

I'm a happy camper. It wasn't cheap (whatever happened to those $20 Caboodles things I had as an '80s pre-teen?) but it was a very wise purchase for me. I think I did my makeup in half the time today just because I knew exactly where everything was!

Kinda looks like a big fishing tackle box. Smile Hmmm, I should check out the prices of those.

Looks like it would really help to keep things organized. I thought about getting something like that but my DH would bug me so bad if I had one of those sitting in the bathroom.

Very nice! It's similar to the MAC one, but about 1/3 the price!

Since it fits under our bathroom sink, it's not so bad - I hate how much room it takes up if I leave it out on the counter, so I've been really good about putting it away. I guess we're lucky though because our plumbing is weird and it's all tucked away in the back. Plus, of course, it wouldn't work with a pedestal-type sink. But since I can keep it out of sight, it's great for our setup!

If you live in Vancouver and looking for one case like this, you can try at the night market. I saw similar ones sold for $20- $30 dollars.

Heh, if I spot them elsewhere I may just return mine. I am definitely keeping the receipt.

I didn't have a Caboodles, but I did have a Sassaby. Actually, I still have it, circa 1991! Laughing I think it's somewhere in my storage locker (apartment basement).

When I was freelancing as a make-up artist, I'd considered buying a train-case, but it was cheaper to just use a big fishing tackle box.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but does anyone know where I can purchase a makeup train case in England? I only know of MAC and it costs 200 quid!!!
