I have a face brush that needs cleaning, will boiling do the job? And I hear that it will disinfect but not sterilize, what can I do to sterilize?

And also how long should I boil it for, if in fact it is the best way to disinfect?

If it survives the boiling then do so though personally I would dump it if it has bacteria on it. I always find using baby sterilisers are a great way of keeping germs off items. You have to be so careful with facial products

Hey xx, I usually just clean my brushes with warm water and mild shampoo on a weekly basis, then let them air dry. I suppose you could try dipping them in isopropyl alcohol to affect a measure of sterilization but you suspect some microorganism like mold, fungi, bacteria has infested your brushes, I'd throw them away.

Boiling them could loosen the glue that's used to adhere bristles to the handle and it'll certainly have a negative impact on the ferule [metallic clamp used to mechanically join bristles to handle]

I zap mine with my steam cleaner when I am cleaning the bathroom. I do the same with my toothbrush.

That is a great idea. I have always wanted a steam cleaner. What kind do you have?
