Well I've had acne since I was 13, I'm 19 now. I've tried so many products - and yes some of them work but I've never been comfortable using SO much chemical on my body.

I met this asian lady with the nicest skin. She told me I needed to use hot/cold water to cure my skin.

Here is what I did:

* Filled a bath with water as hot as I could stand and got into SLOWLY (can't stress this enough). First I soaked my body before I put my face, holding my breath 30 seconds at a time so the hot water could clean my face. I stayed in till I started getting dizzy.

* I got out --> jumped in shower, blasted on coldest temperature my shower can reach (this is a mild shock to the body but since the hot water bath your skin is numb so it isnt so bad...I let it cool me down 2/3 minutes) and got back in the hot bathtub.

I repeated this process for roughly half an hour. I finished with cold to close my pores, as I was instructed.

I toweled off.. my entire body felt like I had been beaten up by a professional massage therapist. My skin was also a little dry after. I went to bed and when I wokeup my skin was CLEAR!

I couldn't believe it, I had all these acne sores all over my face and in one night they disappeared?? It was almost unbelievable. I've been doing this for a month now, once a day.

I also stopped using sunscreen and now I use an umbrella when I'm out in the sun. I don't even need to wear makeup anymore to even out my skin.

Just thought I would post this Very Happy some people may want to give it a try..

I also forgot to mention,

I've tried this before with ONLY my face, hot/cold water using the sink and it made no diffrence! ..I think this way with the bathtub shower works namely the length of time and because the hot bath heats up your entire body and brings blood to the skin. My theory is, blood carries Oxygen and Oxygen kills bacteria.

Really hot baths are bad for you, firstly they can raise your blood pressure and secondly they can make you faint, if you pass out in the bath you can drown, not to mention scald yourself. Beware!

I've heard of something similar although it involves a sauna instead of a hot bath. I don't remember all the details but I recall a friend saying that he would sit and sweat in the sauna for about 20 mins then jump in a cold shower then drink a cup of herbal tea. He would repeat this a few times. He never did this for skin problems, but claimed it helped detoxify his body and he would feel refreshed and energized afterwards.

my skin was much better when i was able to go to onsen (hot spring) and take baths frequently (now i cant because im living in the us and only have a shower Sad )
however i think putting your face into the hot water while in the bath is dangerous... i would usually just soak my body and use a face mask like kose collagen or something...

I can only try on the body, but won't try on the face, because it's easy to leave redness on my face.it depends on different skin type! Smile

Sounds like a sauna. You know you sit in a very hot sauna, and sweat...then you go outside and jump in the snow!

Once I got done laughing at this thread Laughing [sorry Daniel], then I have to be a little more serious. I'm not trying to harsh on anyone but stuff like this is just dangerous!!! I can only hope anyone tempted to try something like this one the basis of one person who claims great results will view ths with a very healthy dose of skepticism! You cannot and should not believe every "miracle cure" you read about in internet forums. I lump a cure like this in the same category as those strange liver flushes, eyewashes and oil pulling methods we've been hearing about from another poster.

Cheers to health, beauty and above all, COMMON SENSE! Laughing

I agree appletini, I have been told that extreme heat to extreme cold is how you get broken caps.

Athena, I'm not following you. Saunas have been in use in centuries in northern and eastern Europe and have vocal proponents and numerous purported health benefits, some documented by scientific evidence. I think they are regarded, as is running here, as contributing to healthy looking skin.

I *would* caution the curious to bear in mind that daniel is very young (unless I have mised him or her up with someone else), and if they are not, they should work up to what he or she is doing very slowly, just as one should with taking on a new exercize program.

I also imagine this could exacerbate someone's rosacea, and, possibly, as others have speculated, encourage some broken caps if a person is older and/or prone to them.

They probably dehydrated you in combination.

I learned over time to take drinking water to the tub with me. Never did this water cure thing, but used to love to soak and soak in hot water.

Hot and cold therapy is a very effective detox agent, most natural cure kind of books really stress it

This so-called water therapy to cure acne is bogus.

Of course it's important to keep the skin clean, but acne is caused by all manner of things including hormones and diet. Simply alternating hot and cold water won't "cure" acne if acne is caused by something else.

Extremely hot water can damage capillaries and exacerbate varicose veins if you have them. It is not a good idea!

One very effective treatment for keeping the skin purified (and to detoxify organs) is the Infra-red sauna. It does not raise blood pressure, does not overheat the body.

Sudansy, if you tried something that Daniel had posted, it's your responsibility and not hers if you decide to follow what she has posted.

At the end of the day, this method worked for Daniel and yes, we can give advice about this might be dangerous and suggest better methods but to comment about common sense & emphasis on everything that could go wrong, it's a bit harsh. How many times, have we taken leave of our senses in search of something that might work?

First: There is absolutely no proof or evidence that this worked for Daniel. He has only made a claim (one that on the face of it is dubious at best). Anyone can make a claim. It's up to the reader to use their best judgement and common sense.

Second: There is nothing (except the moderator) to stop anyone from making a claim in this forum. Read what he wrote. That some "Asian lady" told him to alternate plunging his body and face in scalding hot water and then freezing water repeatedly to cure acne makes this a joke post, at best. It's probably some bored kid who thought he'd have some fun. How old is Daniel? Doesn't sound like an adult to me. Doesn't write like one, that's for sure. (As Daniel is a boy's name, I've assumed the poster is a male in this response.)

Third: Daniel mentions he has been doing this every day for a month. If he's still doing it he's not cured is he?

Fourth: Yes everyone is free to believe whatever they like but seriously, try rubbing the two brain cells you were given together before you take Daniel's "cure." Plunging your skin in overly hot water once may not do much, but do it every day and you will destroy it. Broken capillaries, varicose veins, wrinkles, inflammation. Over time this is very bad for you. Ask any skin specialist.

Fifth: If you have acne and can't get rid of it, visit a medically trained, licensed dermatologist or laser specialist. A doctor. You may also have to make some lifestyle changes. Try drinking more purified water, eating more fruits, seeds, nuts, whole grains, fresh vegetables, healthy oils.

I agree that anyone who would read Daniel's message and dive in head first deserves what they get. At the same time, anyone who makes a patently ridiculous, incredible, or dangerous suggestion should be prepared for the ridicule and criticism they may receive.

actually my computer was acting slow, so i had to click submit (saying "u said it") twice because it didn't work the first time.
i wasn't being harsh, just the truth about wat happened to me. and common sense aint common. Mad
