I am in desperate need of a solution for these little tiny bumps I am getting on my thighs and upper arms. It seems that they are little clogged pores because when I scratch them sometimes a little ball thing comes out and then it is smooth. I just want to have smooth skin...does anyone have a clue as to what product will help me? Please? I was thinking maybe a good body scrub or aha/bha lotion. When I asked the doctor she told me to keep it moisturized..but with what product?

I am in the same boat with you. Upper arms and back have little raised bumps. Quite embarrassing especially in the summer months. Paula's Choice offers a skin revealing body lotion with 10% alpha hydroxy acid. I have used this AM and PM but you have to be consistent! Still has not cleared it completely, but has helped.

I have the same problem on my arms and thighs. I use Neostrata body lotion on the areas with the bumps once a day. It contains 10% glycolic acid. A body scrub will help too or a loofah.

Hi Sweetp,

Here's a few suggestions for treating Keratosis Pilaris: (depending on how severe it is effecting you)

MILD - try a body scrub like Clinique's Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream

MODERATE -try an AHA Body Cream that is buffered @ 14% Glycolic Acid. This would be potent enough to retexturize the skin

MORE SEVERE - Lactic Acid is also an AHA & the Dermatologist can issue you a Rx for a Lactic product to palliate KP, like prescription strength LacHydrin 12%.

OR

UREA - Is excellent in fighting KP. First try OTC Carmol 20 (This claims to soften the crustiest of skin) and if that does not work you can see the Dermatologist for an Rx of increaased strength Carmol 30 or Carmol 40

You can also try combining some of these treatments for the best results

thank you so much for your replies everyone. Fairlady...do you know of a certain product that contains 14% glycolic acid and where I might be able to find it in Canada?

Thanks!

I am in the States so I am not the best person to advise you on this. The only suggestion I would have is to go to Ebay and go to the seller store called skinlaboratory. They sell lots of 25% and up glycolic & lactic acids. I have not ordered from them (although I have been considering it) but they have a 100% positive feedback rating, they ship worldwide, and their products are very reasonably priced.

If this doesn't work for you perhaps one of the other ladies from Canada can provide better recommendations.

Take Care

I was once prescribed a clindamycin lotion for this, and I was surprised by how much it helps - you might ask your derm about this if possible!

There is a Canadian company with a website at seabuckthorn.com that sells soaps and other products made from seabuckthorn oil. I was using the seabuckthorn berry bar for my face and tried it on my body as well, and found quite an improvement in my KP.

Another thing to try is taking an omega-3 supplement like fish oil or flaxseed oil.
