i personally love loose powder compared to pressed. For me, it allows me to give my after foundation face, a better finish and prevents any oily spots (if they arise later in the day).

I use Christian Dior loose powder, not too expensive and it gives you an illuminating effect. However, I also use the Bare Escentuals range (mineral viel is a beautiful finish), and it works really well.

in the past i have also use Maybelline loose powder - its OK...

good luck in experimenting.

I recommend Cle de peau loose powder. However, they are not easy to carry around for touch-ups. Press Powders are easy to carry around.

Loose powder is generally used as the last step after you're done with the foundation, etc ..as a finishing step. Sometimes you can use it on its own, but it doesnt provide as much coverage compared to a foundation.

I have tried both loose and pressed, and I definitely like loose better. My two favorite brands are Glo Minerals and Jane Iredale. I apply it a little differently than most. First I put on my skinceuticals sunscreen, which serves as an excellent base. I wait 20 minutes, and then I apply the loose powder with a brush.
It comes out better than using a primer or foundation.

I, too, am one of those people who prefer loose powder. Unfortunately I've been away a lot this year and I needed something to carry around, and something that won't take much space. That's why I usually leave my beloved Make Up For Ever Super Matte Loose Powder home and take Clinique's Stay-Matte Sheer Pressed Powder with me.

I was really hesitant to try the Clinique one after spoiling myself with MUFE's super silky loose powder, but I'm so pleased I purchased it! It doesn't give you that horrible cakey look that many pressed powders still do, and the best of all, it doesn't dry or break my super sensitive and dry skin out.

It all really depends on what kind of powders we're talking about. Even though I'd still pick my Make Up For Ever loose powder over Clinique's pressed powder, there are lots of loose powders that are way worse than it.

I prefer pressed powder since I carry it around. However, the best powder I have ever used is Becca loose powder.

I am pretty sure she is referring to Jane Iredale brand. (JI)
Pur Minerals has both loose and pressed MMU so the matching pressed is convenient to take along for touch ups.
