I have used BE MMU before with some success but grew tired of it after a while. I am really wanting to try a new brand but need to find the right colour. I am looking for good coverage and wonder Does anyone know of a Canadian site where I can order samples of mineral makeup?

andreana,

You might want to check out Dermstore.ca.
I've ordered samples of Illuminere liquid mineral makeup. Very good coverage.
I'm not too sure if they offer other mineral makeup samples, though.

There's some Canadian Brands like Jane Iredale & Glo Minerals.

Also you can check out BuffD minerals they are Canadian Based and if you email them directly with what samples your interested in you get them FREE. You don't pay for shipping just choose 6 types of minerals you want to try and email them with that and your information. They don't state this on their site but they do this!!

Also I've been using Everyday Minerals (US Based) But their minerals are great and the prices for their kits are amazingly affordable!

I've been buying Lumiere from http://www.lumierecosmetics.com/ . The shipping is included in the prices (no extra charges) and they mark the value of the package low enough that I've not had to pay custom/duty fees yet. I'm very pleased with their service and their products.

After reading reviews on MUA I purchased Physician's Formula from the drugstore and am quite pleased with the results. Before this I used Bare Minerals, although I liked this product it was glowy and I prefer a more matte finish which I get from PF plus it is much more affordable.

I tried the Physician's formula. The actual makeup wasn't bad. The brush is harsh, I swear that it made me itchy! I think I read somewhere in these forums about a goats hair brush causing a reaction. Not sure what the Physician's brush is made of? Price is good.
I've been trying a small business's mineral makeup. It's good and not quite as shiny as bare escentual products. Here is the website; www.thepureboutique.com
I am using the "Ivory Chinook" mineral makeup
ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Iron oxides, Ultra marine blue, Zinc oxide Mica, Silk
Made in Morden Manitoba. It doesn't contain Bismuth, which also caused some reactions.

doohicus

Tell me about their customer service. Ivory Chinook is probaby the shade I would order. What other MMU companies have you tried? I have their site bookmarked and have not ordered yet...

Did you try any other products? Blush, e/s, etc.

Physican's Formula MMU Line is actually pretty good for those who don't like to order online. You get to choose your colors and you see them right in front of you. They have a nice selection of colors. Also one thing to mention their brushes all of them are just garbage!! Try using another brush but not PF'S also best to go either to Walmart or Superstore or even Costco for them !!

In reply to your questions. I haven't used any other products from thepureboutique.com. (I'm finishing up other products first) I have spoken with the owner in person. She was helpful and is available to answer questions. Small business is good that way, you can speak with the owner.

Hi there,
I am new here but came out of lurking to answer your question. Unfortunly, I cannot post links cos I am new so you will have to google for the sites.
I have used the Pure Boutique Ivory Chinook and it worked out well for me for color and coverage. Its medium matte coverage. I think you can save also by ordering a baggie refill and a jar.I chatted to the owner when I only wanted to order two samples and she sent them free.
Other Canadian sites you can try:
buffd-I couldnt find a match but the coverage is full. From BC.
blusche-new company from ON. I am testing some samples soon
cosmictree-not sure about the pricing but the blushes look great, foundations seem to be odd colors for skintones but it could be my monitor. From NS.
urth minerals-you can find it at Choices but the color choices are poor, displays messy. Also pricey for the small size
lyraesnaturals-I ordered the soaps and househould stuff so I dont know what her minerals are like. Ships from BC.
naturalbeautycanada-I cant make out the colors on the screen from the way they are displayed. Ships ON.
luvubeauty-I think this was pricy so I didnt really check it out.

As you can see I have been researching for a while now. Hope this helps and if anyone tries these lines, please post. I am especially curious about the cosmictree blushes.

oops luvubeauty is not pricy. I was thinking pureandsimple that is pricy and hard to tell what the color is as they dont use the product as swatches.

Thanks for your suggestions including a couple I did not know about. I visit two other sites that talk about minerals.
www.mineralmakeupmania.com (delphi forums)

Also makeuptalk.com has a section about minerals and also a "sticky" with ongoing sales. These can be dangerous sites.
