i hope this is still within the bounds of this forum (if not, please feel free to move it to wherever it is most appropriate!)
i was wondering if anyone has any tips on getting bruises to heal faster? i smashed into something the other day and it left a REALLY bad bruise beside my knee- the multicoloured kind im the type that bruises easily and usually the bruise stays there for awhile (which would also explain why acne scars seem to take sooooo long to fade from my face )
so far ive been alternating heat/ice and also my mom attacked it with some chinese herbal concoction when she saw my leg |

I crashed on a Chicago pothole, full weight on one elbow. Technicolor sight. Found out about a week later that Arnica gel helps and started putting it on. I do think the recovery was speeded up by this and if I had known about it at the begining probably would have helped to heal the humongous colorful bruise even more quickly. Recommend it. |

I also have this problem of bruising easily, most of the time I don't even know how I get these bruises. I even saw a doctor for that and he prescribed Troxevasin. It is a gel, but I am not sure it is permitted in North America. Arnica gel, as previous poster said, is also helps. |

Third on the arnica suggestion. I prefer a cream formula to a gel - Nelson's has a nice formulation IMO. Good luck! |

I bruise really easily. For instance going on holiday on a plane last year, I had the window seat so was climbing over my hubby to get to the loo, go for a walk etc, each time I would sit on the centre tray which had a slight lip on it, I didn't think anything of it at the time, but two days later I must have literally had about 30 bruises all over the backs of my thighs from climbing over this tray! It was a sunbatheing holiday and I was so embarrassed, it looked like I'd been beaten up!
Anyway, I fourth Arnica gel and if you can apply a thin layer within a minute or so of hitting/bruising yourself it can also stop the bruise from coming up! |

Helichrysum applied neat on the bruised area. Dr. Mist applied several times has also worked for me. |

Arnica gel, cream or pills. Many plastic surgeons recommend for post-surgical care.
I got a ton of samples at the last aesthetics trade show. |

I’ve bruised easily my entire life. For me, it’s genetics because my mother and sisters are the same. I’ve never found arnica to make much of a difference with me. Recently, I’ve discovered that Vitamin K does a fantastic job! After I apply my body moisturizer after showering, I slather a thick blob on all my bruises and then rub in about five minutes later. Bruises that use to take weeks to heal, now disappear in only a few days. I use an inexpensive brand called Vita-K Solution which I get from Walgreen’s for around $10.
I’ve also found that digging deeply into a bruise with pointed pressure and rubbing hard will help clear it up. I had a friend who would use the eraser end of a pencil. I just use my knuckle, but rarely do this because it hurts and it is too time consuming for the number of bruises I have. |

Kara, welcome to the Forum and thank you for some fresh ideas as to what to do for bruises. Like you, I have suffered from them all my life and especially when I bump into things on the plane (I travel a lot and have a trip forthcoming, in fact about 3 of them). So thanks much, I will try your ideas. |

In Australia you can get some creams from the pharmacy that helps - lasonil cream or hirudoid cream. If it is a fresh bruise, mum used to peel a hot hard boiled egg and roll it over the bruise. Old wives' tale maybe |

I've read that eating papaya at least three times a day on an empty stomach help speed up the healing process of bruises. |

Arnica and Bach's rescue remedy. Use the remedy on your hair after highlights or coloring to help the hair energetically from the "trauma" |

WoW! What a wealth of great ideas!
If you happen to have a BabyQ lying about, it works to speed healing too. I twisted my ankle badly last winter on a board that turned over. I applied ice and compression but I had to drive 200 miles immediately after and just knew I'd have a lot of swelling and bruising, not to mention PAIN.
As soon as I got home I put the BabyQ on it on the green setting for ~30 minutes. The pain was dramatically reduced (I don't take pain meds) and no bruising at all. Some swelling but not much. When I finally got in to see the ortho guy and get an xray, the ligament was torn but he couldn't believe there was no pain or bruising and the swelling was minimal by then. Now I used it any time I get injured and it helps with arthritis too. It helps with increasing the energy to the area as I understand it. Apparently NASA has studied it with burn injuries. Just when you think NASA isn't doing anything useful for us girls.... |

Arnica is amazing and I have been using the pellets for YEARS. However, about 3 years ago, I started using TRAUMEEL, a tablet made by HEEL, a well known German company. It not only has arnica, but a whole other compliment of ingredients....check it out!!! |

I swear by arnica gel as well as the tablets. Another good find is helichrysum essential oil, AMAZING stuff for bruises and scars. Heres more info on that on a website called naturesgift
as well as selling the best essential oils I have found. |
