i just started using this two or three weeks ago, i had the samples for quite a while but i had just started using retin-a at the time i got the samples and was a bit chicken about incorporating mama lotion at first. but now that i've discovered my skin is not as sensitive as i thought (retin-a 0.05% every night and very little flaking or peeling) i started using them on alternate nights (or sometimes even mama lotion for 2 or 3 nights running then one night of retin-a and so on).
i really like mama lotion, i have had no adverse reaction, some flaking but not too bad, and i do see some improvement in the general tone of my skin and also some fading of red marks. also my acne seems to go away faster as well. yay!
i liked it so much that i ordered the full size bottle after only using the sample twice! (either that or I have no self-restraint whatsoever! )
the folks at cosmeticville are great by the way, very prompt and helpful and shipping was very fast too |

I have used mama lotion, in the past, after reading lots of positive reviews on another forum. I didn't think that it made much of a difference for pigmentation and I had more success with retin A and retinol products. |

I also wonder Mama is good or not? Why only one product is so popular??? |

Heh, ok I'll put in my two cents...
I LOVE MaMa Lotion. I originally purchased it because I suffer from minocycline dyspigmentation (a pretty severe form of hyperpigmentation). I ordered MaMa samples, and only after doing so did I find out that nothing has been shown to remove this type of hyperpigmentation other than tattoo removal laser treatments. Boo for me. But I went ahead and used it anyway. I suffer from acne, and before I started using MaMa, I've always had to have Benzaclin prescribed to me by my doctor. After only a few days I noticed my skin to be smoother, brighter, softer, less clogged pores, and it actually controlled my acne. I no longer need benzaclin. It has even dramatically reduced the redness around my nose. The hyperpigmentation that I was originally trying to get rid of is still there, but I wasn't really expecting it to anyway. However, marks from old breakouts seem to disappear much faster as well. It's really great stuff if your skin can tolerate a strong AHA. I LOVE MaMa and have even have my friend hooked on the stuff. I cannot recommend it anymore than I do. |

It is great if your skin can tolerate it. I use it once in a while just to heal and help with overall skin tones and marks. I always peel afterwards so I don't use it very often, but I like the way it makes my skin look and I alternate it with a glycolic peel when I am needing a freshening up of my skin. |

I found Mama lotion to be less harsh for my skin than glycolic acid products. Have been using it for 2 weeks. Acne scars are improved and there also seems to be some reduction in pore size. Pigmentation hasn't been lessened but I believe this might take much longer. I alternate this with retin-A. |

I've been using MaMa lotion for close to a month now, perhaps a little longer. Bought it mainly for my sun spots. My skin is quite tolerant, and have always had a problem with congested T zone. Was treating this with microfibre cloth after cleansing and 2x wk 40% lactic acid peels as well as daily aha & bha from SkinBio with their CPs. Was having good success with these for my congested T but still wanted something more effective for the sun spots.
First time use of MaMa, I experienced no stinging at all since my skin had developed a tolerance for stronger aha products. After the 2nd application, I noticed more sun spots, & concluded they were rising to skin's surface. After 10 -12 days, these new spots started to peel lightly and they have now disappeared.
I now use the lotion every 2nd day, rest skin a bit, then resume every 2nd day. The peeling I experience is mild. My older, deeper sun spots are loosening and one major one is half gone. It has also greatly improved the condition of my T zone, with pores much less congested and smaller. Overall appearance of my skin is much brighter & clearer, with skin firmness improved as well.
I am really happy with this product but for dry winter conditions, my skin will require lots of moisture to combat the drying effect of strong AHA. I may alternate it with the lactic acid if it proves too drying.
MaMa is worth a try for hyperpigmentation. For speedier results for darker spots, it may be worthwhile to combine its use with professional level micrdermabrasion/peels.
When I have finished my bottle, I'm also going to try the newer AFA lotions now available, as they are said to be less irritating, better at retaining skin's moisture and just or perhaps more effective in treating hyperpigmentation. |

They are Amino Acids & quite new to skin care & not widely known as yet. Checkwww.edenbeautygroup.com.
A local derm, the only one to my knowledge, uses these products in his peel program. Am keen to try them but they seem quite expensive. The sitewww.eskincarestore.com carries the home use products.
I've asked Dr. Pickart @ SkinBiology what he thinks of their use, especially combined with CPS, and am awaiting a reply. |

I received a sample from EDS and tried it. I have thick skin, not prone to breakouts and no allergies so I don't hesitate to try new sample.
I used MaMa lotion for 3 consecutive nights. On the 3rd day when I got up and looked at myself in the mirror I found my entire face was peeling. I scrubbed with a face cloth and the more I scrubbed the more flakes appeared.
Since the face cloth was getting rid of all the flakes I took out a toothbrush and literally scrubbed my entire face. It's also a bit drying for me. I still have some and will use it more sparingly.
I would not recommend it for sensitive skin, but if you want a peel it's great if you alternate nights. |

I don't really have hyperpigmentation on my face, but my back is a wreck. I recently had a major break out on my back and the remaining scars are horrific- deep purple red. Does anybody think that the mama lotion will work? |

Wow, my sympathies. You've probably seen pictures of much improved acne etc after using MaMa lotion.
If your skin is tolerant, it is worth a try. It's not terribly expensive and the cheapest I've seen it for we Cdns is atwww.buyMaMalotion.ca. You could try using it every 3rd day at first then graduate to every 2nd day, which is recommended.
Even after the 1st application, I experienced no burning or unpleasant sensations. But on the face, you follow it w a moisturizer. On your back, it might be difficult to apply both the MaMa lotion & the moisturizer.
good luck! |

Thank you arya-
Yes my back is a nightmare right now, and I have so many low back dresses and tops and all I have been wearing are high neck and turtle necks since the break out!
I will give the mama lotion a shot- hopefully it will be my HG.
thanks again.

I began using it in August and I'm pleased with the results. It takes quite a long time to work, but it's definitely faded some of my age spots, and made my complexion look brighter overall.
I never had any adverse reactions to it. |

I used it, my skin would peel, and the hyperpigmentation would be completely gone, then a few days later it would be back with a vengeance, but I used it right after I went off accutane, and my skin was really sensitized |

So I was curious about all the raves for this stuff so I ordered samples at skincarerx. With a 20% off coupon and free shipping, I paid around $6 for the sample. I just got my package and they sent me the FULL SIZE product! It costs $45!
Today is my lucky day
I hope this stuff works.. I have uneven pigmentation from a year and a half acne breakout. Acne is finally under control, but my skin is not nearly as nice as it used to be. I'm hoping this will even out the color. |

I do love the Mama lotion. I've been using the samples for a few months now and while not a drastic change I've noticed a much softer appearance and a nice glow after I put my makeup on. |

I've been using this lotion for 3 1/2 weeks now and it's really improving my skin. When I feel a pimple coming on I apply a little more of the lotion on that specific area and it helped reducing the size. My skin is not sensitive to the lotion so I can use it every night or every other night. But I really love this lotion. |
