Hi Rufus - My skin is sensitive as well. When you say you can overdo things, did your skin became inflamed in some way by using the Tanda every day? And were you using both the blue and red heads once or twice each day? Thanks again![/quote]
I'm using both heads once a day in the evening. I found that I got some whiteheads and irritation and taking a one day break was the best thing to calm my skin down. I'm also finding that I use a serum like Ice Elements below my eyes and cheek area cause I don't like the dry feeling I'll get if I leave my skin too long after washing without putting something on the dry areas. |

This response did not satisfy me, LOL, so she took my name and number and had another representative of Tanda call me back. The next conversation was with the Distributor. Again he would not directly answer me when I asked him if the unit can be returned within the first 30 days. He began to give me the same song and dance that Sarah did - that a rep would help me learn how to use the unit to my satisfaction during the first month if I wasn't happy with it and wanted my money back. I told him I will not be purchasing this unit without a money-back option, as I refuse to spend that amount of money on a unit that may not be appropriate for my skin or meet my expectations (especially since I won't be using the blue light). He then told me that if I buy the unit through the only retail store that carries Tanda in Canada (Holt Renfrew), that I could return it under their store policy.
It's clear to me now why there is no guarantee or warranty mentioned on the Tanda website - they do not offer a full money-back guarantee if you are not satisfied. They will only warranty the parts for 1 year or replace the unit if it is initially faulty.
HTHs,
~Scots |
I'm thinking that if the Tanda folks were confident with their product they would assure everyone that they could get their money back within 30 days if they aren't satified(isn't there a consumer law or something). Word of mouth can be great for a product but they are almost nullifying the word of mouth by being so hesitant about the 30 day option. |

I couldn't agree more. The makers of Tanda are causing tremendous doubt about this device by not offering a standard 30 day money-back option to their customers. Compounding this is their elusiveness about their "Customer Satisfaction Guarantee" and what this really means (it does not mean you'll get your money back if you want to return the unit, that's for sure!). |

This is the reply that I received from Tanda.
From: "Johnna Allen" <Johnna.Allen@pharoslife.com>
I certainly appreciate the hesitancy based on your history with other procedures.
The laser treatments are a different technology. The laser is more invasive and damages the cell to stimulate a natural healing response.
The LED therapy is a stimulant to the cell to encourage natural healing and does not damage at all. The Biological effects are that it increased the ATP or the "gas" of the cell to encourage healing and rejuvenation.
For rosacea, the blue light kills the bacteria that causing the inflammation and the Tända Regenerate increases your circulation to deliver more oxygen and nutrients for evening skin tone and healing the "rash" so to say.
We do have a Customer Satisfaction Guarantee. One thing that is very important is that you use the device as part of your daily skincare routine. The light is a very effective tool for helping prevent and cure blemishes but customers have to use it to see results. The best thing to do to measure your results is to take a photo before you start treatment. You can document you progress photographically to ensure you are seeing a difference. I would love to see your progress.
We also have a 1 year warranty on the device and its components.
The client, Sandy is 51 just so you know she isn't that far behind you (smiles)
Johnna
My interpretation of their "Customer Satisfaction Guarantee" is "Buyer Beware"

Hmmmm....I wonder if "Johnna" is the same as "johnnavic" who Scots pointed out has said that she is trying to get pregnant, is 51 years as well as 37 years old depending on the thread she is in? |

I'd say you're right on the money Havana, and that "Johnna" and "johnnavic" are one in the same person! Which isn't a big surprise here, right! Johnnavic not only has discrepancies concerning her age, but she also cannot keep her story straight about how she discovered the Tanda unit. First she claims her niece recommended it to her, then in another post she claims she came across it while googling blue light therapy online. Well, I hate to be the bearer of more bad new here, but I googled 'blue light therapy devices' and there is absolutely NO link or reference to the Tanda unit at all!!! Let's face it folks, johnnavic discovered the Tanda unit as an employee of Pharoslife! And she probably used her company connections to obtain a big enough discount so that she could buy one for herself, her sister AND her niece!!! LOL!!!

Yes the system I bought is a modular hand held device. (Tanda) I use the blue three minutes twice a day for my acen (nice 37 and getting acne again) Great results there, I don't break out like I did before. From what I learned the blue light kills the bacteria that causes the zits. I have to make sure to do it when I ovulate and have my monthly for sure and it seems to be working really well. You may find that the blue light will help with your rosacea actually.
The red light I use at night while watching TV. It feels great on the skin, really soothing. I use it for six sessions moving it around my face and I can actually feel a difference. My skin gets tingly and feels plumper and softer. I have little wrinkles (frown lines) between my eyebrows that are disappearing, it is really cool to see...
I saw the table lamps and thought about them but it seems like a bit of a hassle to have to set it up and it isn't really portable. That is when my neice told me to look at the Tanda.
I can't say enough good things about it. I bought one for my older sister and neice as well. They love it too. |
johnnavic in Baby Q Thread wrote: |
BIG RAVE about a new device I just bought in Canada. It is a modular hand held light therapy device for acne and anti-aging. What I found really cool is first it really works and second they are coming out with new treatments and I never have to buy a new unit to add on to my current system.
The Tanda Skincare System has two treatment heads - blue for acne and red for acne and anti-aging. I have had a bad time with adult acne for years and finally decided I couldn't stay on the pill anymore (10+ years) As soon as I went off - BOOM - pimples everywhere, HATED IT.
I want to get pregnant so I didn't want to take any pills for it so when my derm told me about blue light I googled the therapy and up popped this unit.
I have been using it three minutes twice and day and it WORKS... YEAH. What is cool is that I have both applications, acne and skin rejuvenation in one device.
I called and I guess they are a couple weeks from FDA approvals. They already have their Health Canada Licence.
It seems that is the way the market is going... light for use at home. I did hear that some major players like J&J and P&G are coming out to play as well.
you have to check it out Tanda Skincare System. |

It appears IMO that johnnavic joined EDS just to promote the Tanda product. I am not sure if she is an owner or just a customer service representative.
She joined on June 25, 2007 and first post is about this Tanda product purchased from Canada.
All other posts are in regards to Tanda.
This is a rather new product that happens to be manufactured in my area (Cambridge, ON). I actually saw advertising for customer service reps this summer and indicating product launch (offically) in August. Impressive that 600 units have been sold in a short time and none returned. |

Can anyone tell me how LightStim compares to the Tanda and Baby Quasar. They claim it has more LED than BQ. I can't decide which one to buy.
Thanks a lot

I think all the products work but the only difference with the red light treatment seems to be speed at which anectdotally (I've never used one so I can't say for sure) seems to be the quickest for results. I have a Lightstim and a Tanda and find the Tanda is the most compact and has a timer plus the ability to change heads from the red to blue lights. The Lightstim is a basic handheld device which has an adaptor which plugs into the wall. I find the head on the Lightstim is larger and easier to hold but because it doesn't have the blue or clarifying head I got a Tanda. Other than the hesitation due to no obvious 30 day warranty I'm glad I got the Tanda. The Tanda clarifying light (blue) has helped with my adult acne. If you have no problems with acne and still want something which doesn't break the bank the Lightstim might be the way to go. I have both so dammit I'm using the Tanda for the blue light and the Lightstim for the red. I'm loving the results which are gradual enough that I can see why Tanda may be hesitant to offer the 30 day warranty. So, I like them both so for some it may just be price that makes you open your wallet and the fact that you can get Tanda at EDS.
Update for Lightstim:
I went to the Lightstim website and they now offer an acne light for $247.00 American. It comes with a 90 day warranty. There doesn't seem to be a picture of the device online yet. So Canadians would have to factor in exchange (no problem right now) and duty.

I live in the United States and purchased the Tanda from EDS 2 weeks ago. I now see that the Tanda is no longer being sold outside of Canada. Does anyone know why? Why now, after just a few weeks, has EDS decided to stop selling to Tanda to the US? What am I now supposed to do when I need to purchase replacement heads? I have emailed customer service with EDS but no one has responded yet. Any suggestions? |

Hi ladykip - I have to assume that EDS is trying to sort some details out with Pharoslife right now regarding guarantees and parts. When I called Pharoslife (the makers of Tanda) directly about a guarantee, I also asked them what the cost of replacement heads is should anything go wrong after the 1 year warranty on parts has expired. As crazy as this sounds, they couldn't answer that question either and instead told me not to worry about replacing the heads because they are intended to last for 10,000 uses. I was not impressed by this non-answer and said as much. Having worked for manufacturers of various products in the past, this is a VERY unprofessional response and shows a great deal of disorganization within the company. So if I received this half-baked response, I can only imagine what EDS has been told (or not told! ) about replacement parts. If I were you, I would email Pharoslife directly with the same question and see what happens. |

This is what I received from EDS later today...
Unfortunately, the Canadian manufacturer of the device (Pharos Life)
has stipulated that for now, Tanda may only be shipped within Canada.
When we processed your order, there was a system error which accidentally
permitted it to be shipped to you in the U.S.
Have you opened/used the device? If NOT, you may return it for a full credit.
Essential Day Spa

Unfortunately for me though, I have opened and used this product. Thanks for your suggestion I may try contacting the manufacturer. |

For the Tanda:
Randa Regenerate: 660nm red LED
Tanda Clear: 414nm blue LED.
Baby Quasar: Our units produce visible near-infrared red light at 650nm (nanometers) and infrared light at 950 nm. |

What is the guarantee on the Tanda? I can't find any information on their website.

Hi Winnie - I phoned Tanda yesterday about a guarantee and spoke with Sarah (who Rufus has dealt with). She told me that there is a 1 year warranty on parts, and that they'd replace the unit if it wasn't working when you initially receive it. When I asked her if there was a money-back guarantee during the first 30 days of owning the unit, she couldn't answer me. She then went on to say that a Tanda rep will help you learn how to use the unit optimally during the first month of owning it, it you are not satisfied.
HTHs,
~Scots |
Hi Scots, thanks for your info. The Tanda website did not have any warranty/refund/return/exchange policy, which led me to search on google and here I am. Tanda at Holt Renfrew (Sherway Gardens) is sold out. The customer service line will take down your name and number if want to reserve. I asked about a money back guarantee for this product and they said there is NONE. So I will not be buying it. |

I just read an article in Toronto Star regarding the Tanda. "Pharos is already looking at attachments to Tanda that would target soft tissue injury, cellulite and seasonal affective disorders". The article can be found atwww.thestar.com/living/article/265034
Dated October 13, 2007
I know this just says they are looking at but wouldn't it be great to be able to get all these attachments? I'm leaning toward the Tanda. I wish the baby Q had red and blue lights in one. It is quite pricey. I'm still looking into things before I purchase. |

Pharos Life Corp,
I ordered the Tanda Sept. 16 through EDS. Understandably because I used the product, they cannot allow a refund. I had registered my Tanda with your website and made 2 attempts by email and a phone call requesting a refund through the manufacturer. You would not assist me during those 30 days for a refund. What am I to do now? |
