BE is quite good - but really pricey I think. Also gives a bit of a shine which I quite like but some don't. Lily Lolo also quite nice and cheaper. I really like Lumieness/ Lumierre - can't remember it's name now! It's cheap, huge range of colours and different finishes and they send samples. Lauress also nice. Loads of these companies will send samples and this is probably best way forward as you can then see how they sit on your skin. |

I've used both Pur Minerals (powder) and NCN's (liquid with DMAE and MSM). I prefer the look of the liquid - it is more of a poreless finish - but it is a more transparent finish and now that I am on Obagi - I find I need more coverage and Pur Minerals provides that. When I am finished Obagi - I hope to be able to use the NCN Mineral Makeup only. I have used both together, and it is very effective. |

I have used Lumiere as well as Signature minerals and like them better than BE. They don't have the bismuth compound and don't cause me to itch. I think they cover better and I always had very visible pores with BE that are not so bad with the others. Be sure to get good brushes! |

I switch back and forth between Monave and Lumiere. On days when I need more coverage I use Monave. Both offer samples although Monave's selection isn't nearly as large as Lumiere's. And I believe they both ship internationally.
I can't use BE at all because of the itch factor - drives me crazy but only during the summer months. And it's too shiny for me. Monave is matte and Lumiere has several forumlations from matte to slightly glowy.
There are several MMU brands out there that are actually Monave resellers. I believe Lumiere was at one time. I have gotten into the habit of asking the owners before I place an order if they are resellers of Monave. |

I really love MMU as a foundation but it does take a while to find the right one.
While many like BE, it is more $$ and does contain Bismuth O. that can cause itchiness.
I am currently using Lumiere. She has free shipping to US and Canada with minimum $10.00 order. She ships international also.
I use Jenulence for heavier coverage.
There is lots of companies that offer sample kits at reasonable prices.
Two forums that talk about MMU that are helpful.
www.mineralmakeupmania.com (delphi forums)
alsowww.makeuptalk.com
go to the Mineral makeup section; there is sticky with a list of sites for MMU. Also a sticky with samples and current sales.
Both talk about everybody favorites and you will see some companies mentioned often.
I recently ordered samples fromwww.aubreynicole.com. She has FREE shipping until September 30 including international; no minimum. Good time to try some samples if her company appeals to you. All the discount codes on her home page. |

Hi,
I've used BE and also find them a bit too shiney but love Jane Iredale - which is so so much easier to use than BE.
Good luck - it's worth finding the right minerals and your skin will love you for it! |

the only MMU i've tried is the Laura Mercier, but I think it's very good.
I always think MMU works better on combination skin than on dry skin |

I've been using LilyLolo for almost a year. As with any of these things, you try and be sure you aren't wasting your money... all I can say is I feel mine was well spent.
People have comment alot, how 'perfect' my skin looks, and in actual fact it's shocking :/ so I think it works well
It hasn't dried my skin out, as I thought these powder only mineral make-ups might. And it doesnt clog up with skin-oil or cream concealer etc.
I'm always on the lookout for something to 'treat' my problematic skin... so it might be I try something new, now I've found this forum, but for now LilyLolo is my #1.
Good luck x |

She's also a good source for information on all things natural. |

I second the vote for Pur Minerals. The only place I've ever seen it is an ULTA. |

What kind of skin do you have? Its easier to rec that way as some are better for oily skin and some for dry. |

Sakura...I tend to have normal to dry skin. Definitely drier in the winter so I tend to use my liquid foundations more in the winter. I also have BE. I like it too, but it settles around the pores and somehow emphasizes them. I once asked the salesgirl in the ULTA store, which foundation she used, since she has the opportunity to try all of them. Her skin was beautiful and creamy. She told me she used PurMinerals...so that sold me. By the way, the U in Pur has two dots over it, but I ya can't type that in! |

That's interesting to know, Mountaingirl. It does give a pretty flawless finish. It's also available on their website and, in Canada, on TSC. There are way more foundation colours available on their website than TSC though...

havana 8...do you use Pur? Ok...thanks...I went to the website and now I want to buy a blush. Do you recommend one? The colors all look very deep. I got a pale pink that came with my start up kit. I like it a lot, but not quite enough color. |

hi sakura,
i have combination-dry skin, i have been using Bobbi Brown liquid foundation (the oil free one) and actually think that is quite OK
i don't know whether this is my skin condition, the foundation or my skill, my face just turn "yellow" after a few hours i put the foundation on |

For normal-dry skin I would rec Lumiere Fairly Flawless, Mineral Boutique with vitamin E, Barefaced Mineral Velvet Plush. They have squalene or vitamin e blended it to make it less drying.
If you want to stick to liquid Lumiere, Monave, MAD Minerals and Mineral Basics have liquid versions. |

The Pur Mineral 4 in 1 foundation pan is amazing. I have reddish/roseca skin and it covers all the broken blood vessels. Many of my friends have tried this product and love it.
$25.50 and it lasts 4 or 5 months. I wear it everyday and the Zinc is a natural sunscreen. I don't get burned and I don't break out.
I have gone to bed without cleansing and this is the only makeup in the world that will not break me out if I do so. |

The only mineral cosmetic I still use on a regular basis is the BE Mineral Veil. It's fabulous and just gives me a nice soft matte finish after I put on my foundation.
I found that most mineral foundations just did not give me enough coverage, or I was just too lazy to work with all that swirling and buffing nonsense. But I will stick with the Mineral Veil as my finisher no matter what foundation I use. |
