My neck-length hair is wavy and full. I don't wash every day, in fact, never have unless I go to the ocean or something. I wash with shampoo and conditioner that I like (Freemans) every 2,3 days. After conditioner I apply John Freida's Serum to tame flyaways and that's it.
What I'd like to do is for my hair to smell nicer between washings, without looking greasy, which my hair tends to do if I go 4 days without washing. What essential oils can I try to just rub on my palms and through my hair every other night or so? I love the smell of rosewood and lavender, but can I put that in my hair without causing bacteria on my head? or on my pillow??
Please advise. |

Essential oils are usually antibacterial, antifungal, and have many other stimulating properties.
Rosemary oil, Nettles, Thyme, Rosewood, ylang Ylang, sandlewood, lavender, lemon, grapefuit, peppermint -- all are appropriate for hair use.
My approach to esential oils, is if I have it, I'll use it.
I wouldn't worry about the bacteria thing.
If you are using a carrier oil with the essential oils, like jojoba or olive oil, with the esential oils, I don't think you'd have a problem as long as you are washing your hair 1-3 x per week. |

| I was thinking Opalis Paris L'Huile, that has macadamia nut oil in it. |
