I'm about to get Retin A and was debating on cream or gel. I always thought the cream was for skin that are drier, less prone to breakouts. I'm still confused on which type to get |

This is called "purging". It is a known side effect of using retin A. People vary with how badly they purge and for how long. It may last for 1 to 2 months. You can consider cutting down the Retin A to alternate nights for a few weeks to give your skin some time to adapt. Also, the combination of both retin A and obagi products may be too harsh for your skin. What are you using in obagi and did you start everything at the same time? (in which case even more likely to have bad purging). |

I've never heard of this side effect especially because the original use for Retin A was FOR acne. I don't remember that ever happening to me although I do not have acne prone skin. If and when I get a zit, I always dab a little retin A on it, because it dries it up so much faster! |

I purged the first couple of months on retin a.Mostly around the chin and they were big blind pimples.
I never normally got many pimples either. I started on it for blackheads.
It hasnt got rid of blackheads very well. Im thinking of trying differin. |
