I dropped my BB powder e/s and broke the contents to pieces. Now because it gets transported everywhere these little pieces have turned to powder! Is there any way I could turn it solid again? Is is safe to just add water?
Any suggestion appreciated! |

| The only thing I suggest is grind it down to a fine powder and store it in an empty eye cream jar. I don't think you can solidify it back to a powder. You could also add a bit of vaseline to the fine powder mix it up and use as a cream shadow. |

It is possible to resolidify crumbled cake-type products by mixing them with a "transformer" liquid. By that, I mean those liquid products that instruct you to dip a brush in the liquid, stroke over the eyeshadow cake to liquify the powder, and then apply it as eyeliner. MAC makes one and so does Lise Watier; there are probably several others. (I actually saw this done by an instructor in a make-up class with a MAC eyeshadow pot that had been dropped and looked like it was completely hopeless.)
Because your original container is broken, try a drug store pharmacy for a small, shallow glass container or buy a really cheap eyeshadow in a pan container and remove the unwanted eyeshadow. Transfer your broken eyeshadow to the container. Add a small amount of the transformer liquid to the crumbled eyeshadow, stir/mix/mash with a flat-end toothpick or little spatula until the liquid is absorbed, add a little more liquid, stir again, etc. You don't want it to be soupy, just kind of the consistency of a mud mask or firm cake frosting.
When all the crumbled powder has been wetted and as lump-free as you can make it, smooth it out as much as possible and let dry completely. The top surface of your "new" cake eyeshadow will be somewhat uneven but, when dry, you'll have solid eyeshadow again.

WOW pinky. I'm going to try this tonight when I get home. Although I only use mineral makeup, I really don't care for loose powered eyeshadow of which I have probably 15 pots.
What liquid solution do you suggest I use? |

Sorry for the delay in replying. After using my most inventive cuss words, I discovered loose connections were causing Internet problems. (Duh!)
Daydreamingda, IMHO the Too Faced product in your link should do the trick. I know the method works, but I'd rather you be happy than sorry, so please, please do a test first!
If any of you already have a similar product, I'd suggest you work with something you can afford to throw away: a little loose face powder, an eyeshadow that you're not crazy about, or an MMU sample that just isn't your shade. If you don't have a transformer liquid, take a powder sample in a little jar to a make-up counter and ask them to let you add a comparable liquid to your sample. Mush it up as directed and let it dry.
Once dry, stroke across the top surface with the same brush you would normally use for applying that type of cake product. Watch to see that the brush loads with pigment without having to scrub. If necessary, scratch the cake surface gently with a toothpick to break up any film that may have formed in the drying process, then stroke again with your brush. If you still don't have acceptable pigment pick-up, don't risk it on a product you treasure.

Paint Cosmetiques makes one of those liquids. I'd use it to turn powder shadow into a liner though, not for what you want. MAC probably makes something similar.
However, if you dropped the shadow onto the floor, I'd just buy new shadow. |
