Ok, I can't believe it....I was separated from my husband early in 2007 and now I am going out on my first date. I haven't dated in something like 13 years....I was younger then, with younger skin.

Actually, I am leaving to go meet this man in a few minutes and I think I look good in nearly every way except my eyebags and dark lines make me look old and tired..and there's only so much you can do even with the best concealer. I checked with a dermatologist who told me he could use Restylane on my undereye area, but I've done some reading up on this - many report that it only lasts a few months. I can't afford to go running to a dermatologist every few months @ $400-500 per visit.

What other options exist? This is beginning to really impact my self-esteem.

Thanks, BF

Oh, my gosh, I'm sure you're beautiful! You're just out of practice with pumping up your own ego before a date. Smile So let us help! I'm sure you're still a knockout, and if he's a man worth his weight in alfalfa sprouts he'll see that even if you happen to have a few fine lines or whatever. And generally when you think you look bad, it's 95% in your head and only 5% in your appearance, and even then a smile will fix most of that 5% so try to relax and enjoy yourself. You could go early to the bar and grab a drink alone to prep yourself if you feel like it and you want to relax and calm your nerves a bit first. Thought that might make you worse, everyone's different -- but do whatever works for you (be it chamomile tea or kickboxing) to chill you out and get you fretting less, so you go in with a happy face instead of an anxious one.

... But if you're dead-set on getting some help for dark circles, I just recently read an ELLE magazine article called Cover Story, which highlighted a few concealers and their benefits and weaknesses. They said that the No. 7 instant radiance concealer (well, they called it that, but Target calls it Radiant Glow -- I think it's the same thing though), available at Target, was great for under-eye circles since it contained light-reflecting particles. So maybe that'll give you the boost you need.

Go get 'em! And have fun! Blind dating can be intimidating, but hey, sometimes it works out (I'm an Internet success story, myself)... here's wishing you a great first date in a while, and if not, at least a good practice run!

I think the last thing your date is going to be thinking about is the lines around your eyes.

Let us know how it went!
