Ive no problem with hair growth since using Shapley's MTG oil which made my hair grow TREMENDOUSLY..but I do have some issues with temple areas. I need tips or help on growing hair in that area.
Before I buy the product to help my situation I like to ask those who tried the products.

Hi, Everyone, I am having problems with a receding hairline Never thought it would happen to me because my hair has always been thick. Even my mom,who had thin hair, didn't have a receding hairline. My hairline began receding about 4 mo. ago. Also, my eyebrows started thinning. I've gone through 1 tube of Ardell and it has helped my brows. I run the wand around my hairline, too. I use a shampoo that has no SLS since I've read it's harmful to hair. I don't know what to do. I've not familiar with the laser brush. I'd be grateful for your advice/suggestions. BTW, I am 56 and am 4 yrs past my last period. Is that TMI? Thank you! |

I used Nioxin several years ago. My hair was in poor condition and shedding badly. Nioxin stopped the shedding. My hair did get thicker in the areas it felt thin. Nioxin IMHO is an excellent product and worth a try.
I suggest Follicle Booster for your thin areas.

An intensive leave-in scalp treatment for excessively thinlooking areas and low density hair lines. It provides vitamin enriched nourishment onto the scalp and protects hair against the phototoxic effects of sunlight and the damaging effects of DHT (Dihydrotesterone). |

Thanks for the suggestion of the Nioxin Follicle Booster, Winnie.
I haven't used a laser comb on my thin area (used to have a widow's peak but my hair has been thinning dangerously from that point towards the crown ) but I'm running the Baby Q over that area when I treat my face. It's too early to tell if it's had an effect, but I'm crossing my fingers! |

Many beauty salons carry Nioxin. You can also purchase it on line. Amazon.com is a reliable retailer.

Winnie,
Thank you for recommending Nioxin Follicle Booster!
I bought some almost one month ago and have been rubbing it into my scalp twice a day.
For the last year, I've noticed that when I wash my hair, the shower drain is clogged up with hair. I was loosing so much, it was quite alarming. I'm in my early 50s, and figured it was one of those menopausal "things".
Within 2 weeks of using the Nioxin, I had approx. a 90% decrease in hair loss. I was shocked, since I really was skeptical that this was going to work. I will continue to use this for a few months (I ordered a 6 month supply).
Now,I know this may not work for everyone, but for me, it's been amazing. All I can say is YIPPEE! |

Hi, Once you start on the Follicle Booster, do you have to keep on it forever? Thank you! |

I was wondering the same thing. I figured that I'll use it for 6 months and then if I start loosing hair again, I'll continue.
Hey, with the results I'm getting, I'll use it for life if I have to.
Maybe Winnie can answer that question for us. |

Mars you need to have your TSH, free T3 and free T4 levels tested. Hair loss on the head accompanied by the outer third of the eyebrows thinning is a BIG sign of hypothyroidism. If you are hypothyroid, DON'T let them give you Synthroid! Synthroid causes hair loss! Insist on Armour (natural dessicted thyroid) or Thyrolar (combo. T4 and T4). But keep in mind, even after you start treatment to correct the hypothyroid, hair loss can continue for a bit til the body regulates itself and you get your levels to where they should be for you.
Also, Nizoral shampoo is good for growing hair too. I use it in concert with Nioxin shampoo and conditioner. |

My brother uses Nioxin for his receding hairline- he's only 24! I was visiting him and tried it myself. It was so tingly and fresh on my scalp. I loved it! The conditioner also was heavenly and detangled my waist length hair just by rinsing. (I usually run a pick through my hair with conditioner to detangle). He told me that the hair salon lady said the hair growth would recede more if he stopped using it. Don't know if that's sales talk or truth. He does have some baby fine hair growing in at his temples after using it a year. You have to look closely to notice as it is not thick and filled out. Do not do Rogaine! My cousin used it after she fried her hair by coloring and perming at once. She now looks as though she had cancer and has a few scragley locks coming back in. She quite rogaine and most of what she had fell back out! I'm sorry to say I don't know if Nioxin and Rogaine are related as to the chemical content. Might be best not to mess with them! |

[b]So very sorry to hear about your cousin's experience with Rogaine, Laurabeth. That's just terrible. I'm using Skin Actives' brow and lash growth around my hairline. This is the second time I've bought it. Also, I've used the Ardell product and I think it works better for me. Now, I'm not talking about a major transformation, just some wisps of new hair. Has anyone else tried Skin Actives? |

Hi, I don't post often mostly lurk. I've been using Nioxin for the last 6 months. I have very fine straight hair. It started thinning especially around the hairline this year, I'm guessing it's hormonal-I'm 43. I have been pleased with the results. I have fine hairs filling in, some of it now about 2 inches long.
I initially was using just the scalp treatment, I now use the shampoo as well. I also use the skin actives brow and lash filler about once a week around the hair line.
It has been helping me and I won't give it up anytime soon! . |

The Laser Comb is really supposed to work but I think you need to use it consistently. I was talking to a Hair Replacement Specialist who told me that after doing hair grafts he always wants his patients to use it because it speeds up hair (re)growth tremendously. |

My hair is not thin but not thick either. Also, it never seems to grow past a certian length (am 32yrs, seems to never reach the middle of my back. Will Nioxin thick it up? can you use Shapley's MTG oil with Blonde hair? will this speed up the growth?
Thanks! |

annachan...I was wondering the same thing myself. I don't have a Baby Quasar but I just bought a DPL unit. I don't know if they work on hair. The Laser Comb of course is a LASER and you have to be careful NOT to shine it in your eyes or look at the laser light. I know with the DPL unit, you just close your eyes while using it, so it must not be at all the same light energy. |

Angeleyes (I think!) Nizoral is for dandruff but it is also known as a growth stimulant. On hairlosstalk.com they mention it and it's mentioned on quite a few forums devoted to hair loss. Hundreds of people, if not more, including myself have used it successfully to stimulate hair growth. Something about the specific ingredient make-up in this particular shampoo makes it the only dandruff one known to also stimulate hair growth.
Also, while I like the Nioxin scalp therapy, I steer clear of the shampoo because it has SLS's in it. That chemical is now being found to cause hair follicle damage in some folks. Get a sulfate free shampoo from a health food store like Naked Naturals. |

Winnfolk....Does the Nizoril have any SLS's in it? I tried to find an ingredient list but couldn't. Would you recommend it for someone who DOESN'T have dandruff, but just wants to stimulate hair growth? |

It does have SLS in it but it's very far down the list of ingredients unlike other shampoos so I think that means it's a much smaller amount than with others. Anyone can use Nizoral- dandruff or not. I use it for hair growth NOT for dandruff. You just use every other or every 3rd shampoo. In the interim, I like Naked Naturals for colored hair. I've definitely noticed hair regrowth and much less hair shedding. I've also been taking MSM, biotin, and evening primrose oil. I also just found out I'm low in iron so hoping supplmenting with that helps with regrowth too. |
