Hi all,
I am trying to perfect the smokey eye!
Getting there slowly, but I need to find a good eyeliner pencil that I can line my inner rims with, that doesn't make the whites of my eyes go red.
This keeps happening with the pencils I currently have, and it's not a good look!
I am using Elizabeth Arden smokey eyes powder pencil, and it is causing redness. I have tried the Dr Haushka one, but it doesn't go on evenly or wear off evenly. I want a polished look.
Was thinking of trying MAC pencils.
Any recommendations?
Thank you!

Hi
I don't know where you are located, but I've had great success with the Quo eye pencils. No smudges whatsoever. I think you can only get them at Shoppers here in Canada... |

Good day Chickenlittle, you can achieve the smokey eye WITHOUT rimming inside the eyelid. Just rim on the outside and SMUDGE. Thats all you need to do. Lining inside the rim and you risk the irritation and red eyes. |

Revlon colorstay are great, they are cheap and dont cause any irritation when used to tightline. |

Thank you all,
I like the look of dark liner on the inner rim, that's what I'm going for ... it is difficult not to cause redness though.
I live in the UK.
Will look at the Revlon one, thanks!

try MAC fluidline -- it's not a pencil, but it really will stay on and not drift into your eyes (thereby making them red). if you're lazy like me and still end up using a pencil, try urban decay 24/7 pencils. and one trick that helps me is lightly blotting the inner rim to get rid of any moisture before lining -- it helps the color to adhere and doesn't make a watery irritating mess. |

Thanks Waffle,
I already have Bobbi brown gel liner, but I was looking at MAC fluid line the other day, and I'm tempted to get it as the texture seems softer and smoother. But that's just for the top lids right?
I like the tip of blotting the inner rims first, I'll try it |

I like the Laura mercier eye pencils. I have lined my eye rims for years and some pencils irritate and make my eyes red and burn. The Laura mercier pencils do not. I LOVE the black violet color. |

hi chickenlittle,
i highly recommend shu uemura's drawing pencils. they are really creamy and don't smudge really unless you want them to.
or if you have more sensitive eyes that are irritated like mine can be, i recommend getting an eyeliner brush and some black mineral makeup eyeshadow. using water mixed with the mmu eyeshadow makes a great liner for smokey eyes.

I was shopping today for an eyeliner to wear on the inside rim that will not cause redness. I purchased the Technakohl eye liner at Mac after the make up artist told me this is the first liner approved to use on the inner eye rims. |

Chickenlittle? Just last week I was perusing all the eyeliner pencils at Sephora. I remember one company saying their eyeliners were made specifically for inside the lid. Problem is, I can't remember which company it was! Maybe it was MFE or Becca.. I'm going to track it down and let you know. ) |

Sorry Chickenlittle, I've looked and looked and cannot find for the life of me the brand of eyeliner made for inside lids.. I'll keep on looking though--I know I saw it! |

Was it the Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil, LaFemme?

Kohl Eye Pencil has a thicker diameter and is formulated specifically for lining the inside of the eyelid, at the base of the lashes. |
or maybe Tarte EmphasEYES?

EmphasEYES your look with this intense eye definer. Give the perfect amount of pop to tired, sunken eyes, and reveal a more youthful, dramatic look that ensures your eyes will be the first thing people see. The patented silicone system creates a super creamy, long-wearing formula designed not to fade or run from the sensitive inner rim of the eye. Dermatologist tested. |
or maybe Fresh?

Fresh Eye contour is soft enough to create smoky eyes, but firm enough to maintain a consistant line. This unique combination of kohl and vegetable pigment have been specifically developed to safely line around and inside the eyelid. |

Oh shoot, Havana, you beat me to the punch! LOL It's 1 am EST and I just found the one I was talking about! Yes, it IS Laura Mercier Kohl eyeliner pencil for $19. Well it was driving me nuts, so I kept searching as I told Chickenlittle I would. Glad this one's solved!
Speaking of kohl eyeliners, did I read something in EDS Forum that said Kohl eyeliners are bad for the eyes? I tried the black/turquois kohl pencil, and even with powder applied with a q-tip under my lower lashes--where I wear eyeliner--it still smeared. I may try one of her self-sharpening pencils next. She has a long-wearing liner pencil also, but it only comes in black. I've currently been wearing black/navy or black/green of late. Anyone have any other suggestions? In the meantime, I may have to buy the new Kohl "ice blue" pencil to line my lower inside lids. The light blue is a much softer look than the pure white I think, after having used both.. Problem is, I can't find an iced blue pencil except the kohl pencil offered by LM. HTH |

I recently purchased the Smashbox water proof liner - it is especially made for the inner rim of the eye (or that is how they marketed it on the Shopping Channel). There is a brush that is supposed to go with it. However I just used a brush I already had. I've used the brown colour twice and it has stayed put. With my contacts NO pencil has stayed and I've tried almost all of them.

I use BB eyeshadows with a wet brush and can line inside the eyes with no problem. |

I use the MAC power point pencils. The fluid line I only use on the top of my eyelids- it cakes and chunks if you put it on your inner rims and then you get pieces of it in your eyes. I also use MAC eyeshadow in Carbon and I wet an angled brush and dip onto the eyeshadow and then line my inner eyes that way as well. |
