Hi I'm trying Pure Anada's mineral powder and it's got silica in it so that the powder will not get into skin's fine lines. You can find this product on Pure Boutique.com
As well, I'm told that sheer cover is really good mineral powder that you can order from infomercials or find at AS SEEN ON TV stores.

Depending on whether you want Canadian or US.
Canada: www.thepureboutique.com medium coverage
www.blusche.com Velvet Matte formula currently grand opening sale, buildable to heavy coverage.
www.buffd.com heavy coverage, needs primer for some people to control oil breakthrough.

US:
www.jlynne.com medium to heavy coverage
www.mineralboutique.com Cover It heavy coverage

Sheer Cover has bismuth which is the glow. If you have oily skin you might not want any glow as it can make it seem like you have a greasy face.

I'm still a huge fan of BE's original Mineral Veil. You may also want to try pearl and silk powder.

Are you asking about a mineral makeup or a setting powder?

definately not BE cuz it makes my combo skin super oily. Jane Iredale is okay but now I'm using Dr. Hauschka. JI seems to have more coverage, but Hauschka is really really fine and light.

Cover FX has a really nice mineral powder foundation but whichever one you choose, keep in mind that the foundation will change on you if you have oily skin. When the foundation mixes with the oils, it will darken. Just test a few colous on your skin and wait a few minutes to see how they change!

Everyday Minerals !!!

http://www.everydayminerals.com/

Under the custom kits section there's a free try me kit. It's $3.97 S&H only. You get to try 1 concealer, 1 blush and 3 foundations. I use the Intensive formula. I love the coverage and yet it looks so natural. I don't even need a concealer with this formula. It's matte with a slight glow, good for oiler skin but works well with all skin types. I've tried over 20 mineral foundations and this one I love the best. It's priced right too!!

I am using Everyday Minerals (still using their sample kit! They give out very generous sizes. I have had mine for more than 3 months, but then again, I only apply a thin layer all over my face.).

I have combo skin and am using the matte formula. Whilst it does help with the oilies, after 2-3hrs, I still need to blot my t-zone. For very faint acne marks, it does conceal them, but for really red marks and raised pimples, it doesnt really do a good job.

Im fairly new to MMU and my first brand was Signature minerals which looked terrible on my skin! So cakey and fake, and the concealer does not conceal my acne and acne marks.

I am about to use Laura Mercier and have ordered some Alima samples too Razz (due to the recs here!) and it is very cheap! $1-1.50 per sample, about $5 for US orders and $11 for international. I ordered about 12 samples and it was under $25.
As keli3 said, try the samples before buying!

If you want high coverage and matte finish, I recommend you to try Cory. Her samples are cheap, only USD0.35 per sample and shipping charges are reasonable. Her colours run a bit light, so you have to order slightly darker than what you think your "correct" shade would be as well. The formula is mica-free and also free of zinc oxide. Although the samples are small, you only need very little powder to get the coverage (about half what you would use in EDM as a general guide). The oil control is reasonable but with matte finish, you will not get much "glow" unless you are super oily! The website is www.corycosmetics.com. If you want increase the oil control, order the primer powder and finishing powder (finalizer) samples as well.

I have been using Terra Firma Mineral Foundation. It is all natural no parabens, and does not contain bismuth which is what makes the mineral makeups so shiney.

In the past I have tried JI, Everyday Minerals, Afterglow, Larenim, Cosmedix, etc. The TF is by far the most natural on my skin, and the Soft Focus is awesome.

Unfortunately, I do not like their eye shadows. I still use the JI active light concealor that works great for reflecting the dark circles.

Hi Miko, sounds like a lot of great suggestions already! I have oily skin, but it's trending more combo with the onset of Santa Ana winds and dryer conditions of winter. Over the summer, however, my skin was pretty oily. Everyday minerals intensive coverage has been very effective for me, but I think it was the silk/pearl powder that really helped makeup stay in place all day without the oily sheen.

Fortunately most of the smaller companies offer samples so you can find the best shade and coverage for very little $$$.

Luck!

I absolutely love the Veena Velvet from Lumiere for oily skin.

http://www.lumierecosmetics.com

There are 2 more foundations, the Cashmere and Luminesse, which are both recommended for all skin types, but I have not tried those yet.

I have very oily skin and tried them all. Lumiere Veena Velet IS the best. It has oats in it to absorb the oil. Definitely get the silk powder to go under and over. It is the best!

I've tried a few MMU companies. most of them were too shiny, like, a little too much glitter. some of them have bismuth.. that stuff made my face itchy.

I use Elegant Minerals. if you use the mineral rice powder it will cut down on shine and control oil. I used to have really bad skin, most of the problem was probably from using bad makeup products.

You can get samples of everything. that makes it soo much easier. they have foundation sample kits for a penny. that's how i found my color.

I'd say Everyday Minerals too. I've fairly oily skin and out of all the brands I've tried this line is the best for me. Their finishing powders are really lovely too.

After I try many of your suggestions I end up with the best results I've been looking for. And that is Lumiere Veena Silk Veil and the Healing Concealer. I really can say that it covers very well and keep my skin from getting oily, and is mineral makeup.

Thanks everybody for your help.

Have a Happy Holidays!!! Wink

Mineral powder actually makes skin dryer than using liquid foundation. So, if you have oily skin, you should give a try. =)
