I am currently using both Alima and Lumiere. I sent away for samples twice from each. I keep alternating the two brands and am having a really difficult time deciding which one is better...they are both very good.
Try some samples of a few brands before purchasing. MMU is a bit of a challenge when it comes to finding the best color match. |

alima. i'm biased though, cuz i haven't tried anything else and don't feel that i need to. it gives me the perfect dewy/glowy look that i love and it matches my hard to match golden skin. |

3rd vote for Alima, esp the blushes and primer. |

What type of skin do you have? How about type of coverage/finsh wanted. There is no best as everyone has a different idea what they want for their makeup. |

i have just been diagnosed with mild rosacea. I keep getting these very tiny tiny pus-filled pustules with everything I put on.
Since many people here have said that sensitive skins don't cope well with Bisthmus, I'm looking for mineral make up WITHOUT it.
Is Alima bismuth free?? |

I use Terra Firma. It is a matte mineral with no bismuth. It stays on all day even with my oily skin, and the coverage it neither too heavy or too light. |

After reading many of the threads, I ordered some samples from Alima and they came the other day. I admit to having some trouble getting used to using this type of make-up. I've never used anything this powdery before. But I really like the foundation. It is covering the rosacea but somehow it is just absorbing into my skin. I've only tried it twice..this time I used a different color that I seem to like better.
I did not use the Lumiere only because I preferred the colors of the Alima. There seemed to be a better variety. Neither of these brands have the bismuth in them.
The eyeshadow is hard for me to work with. I am going to try and read up on how to apply it without it getting all over my face.
I want to thank all of the women that helped steer me in this direction with all the great advice in this forum. |

Everydayminerals.com also offers a great range of shades and best of all, no bismuth! Carrie offers very user friendly samples as well so you can find the perfect shade for you.
good luck,

ww.everydayminerals.com andwww.signatureminerals.com offer free samples, you just pay for the shipping. I prefer the Signature Minerals over the Everyday Minerals as their site is better to view for colours and swatches and the jars come with sealed sifters wheras EM does not. Also I could not find a match with EM when their changed their names. Some girls in the same boat as me mixed to get their match but I dont believe I should. |

For medium to heavier coverage, I really like Monave. Lumiere also has really nice coverage and is a little lighter than Monave. I ordered full samples of both and custom blend my color. In my search for the perfect foundation, I sampled Alima, Aromaleigh, Cory Cosmetics, Everyday Minerals, Lumiere, Meow, Monave, and Valerie Beauty.
MMU seems to look its best once it has sort of melted into your skin. I find that I get my best coverage by spritzing the kabuki brush with a moisturizing toner after loading it with the powder. I will then touch up my scars, pimples etc. with a concealer brush. Finally, I'll spritz a makeup sponge and dab all over face to really blend the mineral makeup. This really helps to give you a more glowey vs. powdery look.
I started using MMU about 1.5 years ago and started with Bare Minerals which has Bismuth in it. I've always had issues with acne since my teens, but I started to really break out with huge cystic acne all over, especially my cheeks, after several months of using it. I'm still recovering from the scars. I did not realize till much later that it was caused by the mineral makeup with Bismuth. I didn't suspect it because the huge cystic acne did not show up until months later. I think what happened is that the bismuth slowly breaks down your skin's natural barrier where it finally becomes an irritant to the skin causing the acne. Just thought I should add this to hopefully save someone from all of the heartache I went through. |
