I know, the Alchemy thing blew me away. I already put up one super-detailed request for an item, and I think I'm going to request a custom-knit hat/scarf/mittens set. I've always wanted a very specific type of thing for my winter warmth -- fingerless gloves with one of those mitten flaps that pulls over your fingers, and a detachable string to go in the sleeves of your coat, plus a hat with ear flaps and a pom-pom and a super-long scarf with pockets (to stick the mittens in) and fringe. All in black with bright turquoise trim. See what I mean? Picky picky! And now, I can find someone who will knit me them, I bet! Hooray! On to make my second Alchemy note. And then I swear I really am done for today. |
so, I'm dying to know - did you find someone to do this? do you have it yet??
I just accepted my first Alchemy bid. I need window clings for my glass doors so birds won't try to fly through - but of course they have to be "just right."
Now I'm thinking about asking for all sorts of thing - especially custom clothes.... it is sooo addictive. |

Hee, I know! I did find someone to knit my hat/scarf/gloves set, but I'm kind of confused/annoyed by how the Etsy interface handled it. (Once I accepted a bid from someone, it didn't mark the request as "claimed", so the other bids kept pouring in and people seemed miffed when I declined them! Sigh... you need a PR background to manage it all. But I'm really, really excited about my new set-to-be!) |

I think that you have to "close" the bidding when you accept one of the bids. There was a place where you could click on the close button and then all bids would stop.... but I agree, it wasn't all that clear.... |

I found yet another etsy gem! Here it is:
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5563966
I stumbled onto to it because I'm already thinking about fall (what can I say, I like to plan ahead...), and I was thinking of how I'd like some kind of wrap or pashmina that would be more substantial than the ones you usually find. This shop totally fit the bill---- these reversable wraps are regular pashmina on the inside, and then the outside is an interesting, coordinating material. The result is a heavier, warmer wrap that is perfect for chilly fall days. I ordered one that was a silver pashmina paired with embroidered grey flannel material and I could not be more thrilled with it. Etsy rocks! |

I ordered custom-made window clings from http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5408829 and I love them. The artist/seller worked with me (through the alchemy feature) to design and then make these clings for my living room glass doors to prevent birds from flying into the doors. She was great to work with and will probably make anything you want. The picture doesn't do them justice - it really looks like stained glass.

Thanks Havana and Sgresnic. LOL. I'd already contacted your lady Sgresnic. She's on vacation til Wednesday. I have huge windows at work, floor to ceiling and I want the vases of flowers to look real. |

I have an etsy shop! I was so excited to see this post!
I had to quit work after something tragic happened in my life last summer and my therapist suggested I try a new hobby. So my "Metal Craft by Cheri" etsy biz was born. Here's the link:

Let me know your thoughts and suggestions as I am really new to this. I'm having fun, staying busy and my sales are good so far! My therapist was right. I needed this!

Hi Cheri,
What adorable cute items you have! I'm so glad you've found something to help you heal. I remember last summer and have thought of you so often over the year. |

Thanks ladies! I have an order in for custom made lower case fonts which I think will do well too. They'd better! Lower case cost me $359!

I have been doing amazingly well on Etsy. If there are any crafters out there who would like an income from it I highly recommend it.
With that said, I am getting more business than I bargained for. I wanted a hobbyish (I don't think that's a word) type business but it has tuned our full blown. Probably more than I can handle at this point.
It's a great avenue for your creations though! |

The lower case letters are great! And I just added you as a "favorite" shop as well. |
