Hello all, Bizarre question I know, but I was wondering whether or not Canadians use hot water bottles? I am planning to give one in a lovely cover as a gift to a friend. Actually do people in the US use them as well? I now have a good Christmas, not too pricey to send over - idea...

I'm not Canadian, so can't really help you, but I'd imagine it might come in very useful during those cold, cold, long winters. Also, I don't know whether the recipient is female, but they can be jolly useful for easing period pain, too. |

But, DD lost the cap and I am at a loss trying to get a replacement cap for it in Boston. I've looked in several stores and get funny looks. I think they aren't very common. If anybody has any ideas how to get a spare cap for my hot water bottle, please let me know.
But to answer your question, I think that it's a nice gift idea. |

| Well I have 2 lying around somewhere. To be honest, after I discovered those electrical heater things (with settings!) I've kind of fogotten about them. The advantage is the electrical ones don't cool off. |

You don't have hot water bottles over there? 
I must say that I've never come across any replacement lids, I'm afraid, and I live in the UK. |

Thanks all. My recipient is female and I am glad she will know what it is. We can get them in stores like Kmart, Woolworths, Target - everywhere in Australia (even in Summer).
Agent-oo cap you might have to buy another bottle plus cap! I don't think they sell just the caps here either. |

| Hot water bottles aren't all that common in the US. But I love mine--I use it as a base on which to perch a bowl of yeasted bread dough, and on cold nights, slip in under the covers before I get into bed. Mmmmm... |

I dunno about all Canadians but they have em here, and I personally love them.
I have seen cashmere hot water bottle covers sold in chi-chi stores here in Toronto so I think you're okay with that as a christmas gift. |
