Hi. Going through a bout of very unhappy skin. Every pore on my face is congested, some worse than others. I think I've narrowed the cause down to the Peter Thomas Roth SPF30 Mineral Sunscreen Powder which I switched to a few months ago thinking it would be less irritating than a liquid based sunscreen. However, my skin is 100% worse. I thought the ingredients were so minimal and thus what took me so long to make the possible connection. Any thoughts on which ingredient(s) might be the most likely culprit? Thanks!!!
ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Titanium Dioxide 15%, Zinc Oxide 10%. INACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Mica, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Iron Oxides. |

Hi Shelly,
My guess is that the Vit. E (tocopheryl acetate) is the culprit. It can be somewhat comedegenic.
Check out this link for helpful info on skin ingredients and irritants.

hhm I checked the link....(tocopheryl acetate) is graded 0 so I don't think that's what caused acne. |

I'm no expert on this, but aren't quite a few people allergic to mica? Perhaps it could be that. |

I guess it varies for different ppl. Some might break out from anything while others, nothing ever bother them. For example, the site says Isopropyl Myristate is graded 1-2 as having acne as well as Coconut Oil. These 2 ingredients are used in the Sothy's Normalising Cleansing Milk which so many ppl love. But so far, I don't hear anyone break out from it.... |
