I've been researching the acne-food relationship and have come up with a novel idea based on the notion that most acne is an inflammatory response to food sensitivities and can be used to track down those trigger foods so they can be eliminated. No trigger--no acne. The skin being a message board to show visible reactions to bad fuel intake.

I'm looking for participants who will track their diet/outbreaks for one month. I've got a week at a glance photo sheet with a face for each day to mark the spots in the region they occur in, along with everything eaten each day. Easy to fold up and take along or keep on fridge.

Here's what I've got so far:
itchy little whiteheads (that crust over) within an inch of the mouth--acid foods like tomatoes, oranges, kiwi, flouride
cystic bumps on chin--chocolate
cystic bumps on neck--nuts
pimples alongside nose--too much oil (even flax oil!)
pimples and cysts between cheekbone and jawline--grain (corn wheat) allergy

Email me for the mapping sheet. foreverbeautiful1@verizon.net

Unfortunately I don't have the patience for mapping right now--- sorry! However, I've long been interested in the link between acne and food, so I'll be happy to share what I've noticed so far:

*When I switched to organic milk, eggs, and other dairy products, I noticed a sharp decrease in inflammatory acne. This leads me to believe that dairy itself doesn't cause acne, rather, all the hormones and goodness knows what else that's in non-organic dairy does.

*When I increased "good fats" such as olives and olive oil, flax oil, avocados, nuts, etc, I noticed a decrease in those hard white bumps/clogged pores. I've read articles that theorize that a lack of good fat can lead to clogged pores, and from what I've noticed on my own I'm inclined to agree with it.

Food is a huge contributor to acne and especially hormonaly acne. There are so many hormones and antibiotics added to our foods. I only eat organic foods and hormone free meat (I am lucky to have a natural meat farm nearby)which has made a big difference in the cystic acne that I used to get. Latley I have heard that even microwaving anything that you eat is bad as it changes the molecular structure in the food or water. Apparantly Russia is ahead of us on this and has not had any microwaves since the 80's. I was told this by my nail lady who is a raw food vegan and very picky about what she eats.

Hi Jentle

This seems like an interesting project. Are you a student/researcher/professor? Or is this project just something you're interested in?
