My little sister (she's 27) has very oily, acne-prone skin. She even breaks out on her chest, back and upper arms. She is a mom to a 2 year old and a teacher, so she doesn't have a lot of time to put in effort, so can you please share some simple things that she can do for her skin. Can you please share some products that you are using, and have had success with and also some products that did not work? Thanks so much! It would really help her self-esteem!
Thanks...

They are two products (in my mind at least) that can be successfully used for the treatment of acne. Salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. SA does nothing for me, so I have to use BP.
I was using Sage Skin Care. I had great success with their products but for some reason I tried something new and I can't say it's really working for me so back to Sage I will probably go.
To help with oil production I would recommend finding a moisturizer she likes, because as crazy as it sounds you need one for oily skin. The skin tends to overcompensate and produce more oil if you are constantly trying to strip it away. I currently use Yes To Carrots moisturizers which I love. |

has she considered BCP? something low dosage could really help her with the acne and the oil production. she could also ask her doctor about yaz, or spiro...i've been using a low dosage BCP for years now and its changed my life (i'd been suffering from acne since i was 10). i've realized that if its hormonal acne, you really have to get to the root of the problem to really treat it. So if it is hormonal acne she's dealing with you two should look into it...it could be the symptoms of something more serious than just acne and excess oil production (such as PCOS).
otherwise, something on the topical side, maybe a retin-a would help her...lots of people have a lot great results in controlling acne with this.
i never had much success with retin-a. the only thing that i've found that helped along with bcp is benzaclin (rx) which i then replaced with MaMa lotion because the rx was getting to expensive for me. GL! |

Exfoliation and using Emu oil has helped me. I use Epidermix II and Dermalogica daily exfoliant. For cleansers I like PSF with BHA and Collodial Silver for healing. Copper Peptides are good for acne too. |

Trying different products is good, but she might also want to watch what she eats, drink lots of water, and make sure that she stays "regular". |

For oily skin I give this home remedy to everyone which is very easy to make:
Take 2 tablespoon gram flour, 1 tablespoon honey and a little mustard powder (a little), mix all these together and make a paste.
Apply this paste daily on face at night before going to sleep and wash away after 10-15 minutes.

Jan Marini bioclear lotion would be great for her. Also vivier c serum in 20%. Both of these products have kept my face clear. If she wears makeup she should consider mineral makeup. |

Would this still be good for hormonal acne? I forgot to state that her acne is completely hormonal. Thanks! |

At your sis's age she would be a good candidate for the Paula's Choice 2% BHA and blemish fighting solution. This would be what she needs to clear all of the break outs on her body and face. The PC products are well formulated and work. |
