Hi guys, I decided to buy a fairly high (well for a beginner) percentage TCA kit (18%) from Muac. The peel stung more than my SA and GA peels I've done before but afterwards I was just slightly pink. Then it turned red and I thought, yay, it's doing something! I was expecting it to frost, but that didn't happen even though it's supposed to at this percentage. But now it's gone just slightly pink again.
Should I wait it out and see if anything happens? My skin is tough as nails. You guys will probably kill me for this but I have been known to use a microdermabrasion cream, then a fairly high percentage AHA and BHA serum, and then Super Cop 2x. It never stings or anything even when I follow this twice a day and throw in Differin too. I know I know I'm obsessed but it's not hurting anything, I promise! It is never red and I don't ever get new acne anymore.
So anyway I was wondering if I should try for a higher percentage or just try a couple of layers next time. And assuming my face "heals" soon, how soon can I do it again? I'm really disappointed as I actually wanted to peel. Nothing to date has made me peel yet, just flaking or extremely dry skin.
I know a lot of people post about this and then they have a huge peel like 2-3 days later. But do you think it's possible that I might not? If not what does this say about my skin?? |

even though you didn't frost, you still might peel. Have you been prepping your skin with AHA's beforehand? Did you take a hot shower before applying the TCA? Those things really help. I would suggest layering up to 5 times before moving up just in case. You just seem to have really resistant skin. If after 5 layers you still aren't frosting, you might want to considering exfoliating before applying the TCA. This will help remove the top layers of skin and will take up the acid better. I started out doing 15% because i have resistant skin also. I did 5 layers and still didn't frost. I peeled a little bit, but not a whole lot. I didn't want to waste the whole bottle of TCA so a month later I tried again. Except this time, after I showered, I exfoliated and after only 1 layer of TCA i frosted in some places on my face. So I suggest prepping the skin and either moving up in concentration, or if you want to use up the rest of your 18% solution, exfoliate first. If you still aren't frosting, you might want to consider going to a derm and having a really strong peel done. |

do you think I can try again in few days if nothing happens? Normally I wouldn't be so aggressive, but I only have the winter break for downtime and my face is really really tough as I have mentioned before. |

i would wait at least a week and a half to make sure no peeling is going to happen. the skin shouldnt be tight. if you are sure there's isn't any peeling then its probably fine. |
