I just has one session with my next one scheduled for next week. However, it's supposed to take awhile for results. Anyone has done this? Experiences? |

Wow it didn't work at all? How many treatments did she have in total? Has she found something that works? |

I bought Tanda, blue light for acne and it worked pretty well. Doesn't do anything for blackheads, but works pretty well for inflammatory and cystic acne (mild to moderate). |

is her acne hormonal? it could be why it didn't work. if the root of the problem is hormones, that needs to be taken care of first otherwise any treatment won't be effective. my derm only recommended to me after my acne, which was caused by a hormonal imbalance, was treated properly. if the imbalance wasn't treated, then the laser would not have worked. i didnt get the treatment because it was too expensive for me at the time, but a lot of her other patients had success with it. |

ch3r, can you elaborate more about your hormonal acne problem? How did you find out it was an imbalance?
I notice that people in this forum like to buy home devices for skin, is it really alot cheaper than seeing a derm? |

i actually went to see a derm for laser treatments, and she happened to also be a hormone specialist. she basically took one look at me (and my med. chart) and was like, probably PCOS. then she did some blood tests and an ultrasound to confirm..and she was right.
i'm not saying your daughter has PCOS, but if it is, it could be the root of her acne problems. one big indication that she has a hormonal imbalance, without taking her to a doctor is to ask her if her TOTM is irregular. otherwise, take her to a doctor, have her hormones checked and go from there. i tried EVERYTHING for my skin. it was only until i was diagnosed with PCOS and treated, that my skin got better...so you might want to look into it. if it is PCOS, there is a deeper problem than just the acne that needs to be taken care of. after its treated, then the improved skin will just follow. If its not PCOS, it could still be hormonal, your daughter just needs to keep track around what time of the month she breaks out. if its around the same time each month, its hormonal. i dont know how old your daughter is so i don't know what kind of treatments you are open to, but at least you will know where the problem is starting and you two can discuss with a doctor how to approach the problem. GL with it. |

I have PCOS as well. Nasty stuff. I'm 42 and have been suffering from it since I was 17 (at least that is when it was dx'd).
I agree that hormonal acne are much more difficult to deal with and get rid off, but it can be controlled.
If you daughter has hormonal acne (PCOS or other hormonal problems), it may be more difficult to get rid off them. However - I find that on top of everything else I do (careful diet, exercise, natural supplements, etc), skin care is extremely important.
There is a lot that can be done for acne-prone skin (hormonal or not), and not everything will work for everybody - it is a bit of error and trial.
Blue light therapy works for me. It's not perfect and it doesn't eliminate acne 100%. But it significantly reduced the appearance of inflammatory and cystic acne for me.
Hope this helps. All the best.

If its hormonal acne, try "the Pill" I use the Tanda now to keep skin clear and it really helps with the cystic ones. I only get breakouts if I get lazy and haven't used my Tanda for a while. |
