Hi everyone,
I am looking for a new range of skin care and am considering Aesop. I am attracted to the packaging which I think will look great on my vanity table and when I read about the range it sounds like the products smell really good. I have tried so many brands and I am after results from natural, paraben free products. I have done a search on our forum and the few comments I have found were mixed, so I would love to hear more from someone who has tried the products for the face. |

I have tried Primrose Facial Hydrating Cream, I don't like it! I think there's is too much fragrances in it and big problem is, my skin cannot absorb this cream, leave me a greasy feeling on my face. I have dry skin and usually many face cream sink well in my dry skin except this aesop! I still have 3/4 bottle but i won't use it anymore! |

i was very interested in this range as well - i thought it would be the next better thing than jurlique. i am quite wary of most 'green wash' type companies and was very disappointed when i saw the ingredients. they use a lot of denat alcohol. |

I have the Primrose Hydrating Cream, the Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque and the Rose Hair & Scalp Moisturising Masque.
I like the Hydrating Cream but I have to be careful not to use too much. A little goes a long way for this cream.
The Chamomile Masque is a bentonite clay based and it works but dries out my skin more than I like. You can use it as a spot treatment as well. The scent is very strong and I find it annoying.
The Hair Masque is my favorite product. It smells so nice and is one of the most moisturizing and softening conditioners I've ever used (and I've used a lot). This is the only product I would repurchase because the line is very pricey. I had a friend from Australia do a CP for me, which cut down on the cost.
Overall, I think the line is very hit or miss for most people. Although, there have been rave reviews for their Fabulous Facial Oil. That's one my list to try. |

Interesting about the denat alcohol, Miranets. I did not check the ingredient list too properly and just went out and bought a whole line up of products. I started using the range yesterday, and just noticed that my skin feels dry today... This was the problem I had with Dr Hauschka; the alcohol was drying on my skin...
Thanks Carforum and Lotusspecter also for your feedback. |

I tried Aesop a few years ago and maybe the products have changed. I tried -
fabulous face cleanser - ok but not fab. prefer jurlique, decleor or yonka. The glass bottle (I think) is not great in the shower!
primrose moisturiser - didn't really moisturise and left a film on my face
fabulous face oil - not that fabulous. Much prefer the decleor oils.
tea tree leaf exfoliant - a bit too harsh and messy for my liking.
I had much better results (clearing of skin, firming etc) with Dr Hauschka, Jurlique and Decleor. |

Thanks Serendipity, I am getting more convinced that these products are really up to no good... I agree that the Decleor and Darphin oils are better, thinner in texture and more easily absorbed. The Aesop oil seems extremely scented. I used Jurlique around three years ago and had great results. Since then I have been searching for something more natural after hearing that the preservative used by Jurlique is not completely free from question marks. |

Hi Smoothskin, I have tried and tested the following skincare lines -
Aesop
Dr Hauschka
Jurlique
Decleor
some Yonka
I have to say that the best improvement I experienced was with Dr H and Decleor - though they are very different lines with different philosophies. Jurlique was ok - but I never experienced the WOWness of the herbal recovery gel.
Yonka has been so so, though I do like their cleanser.
I am presently tempted by Kate Somerville (organic and natural she is not), because as much as I enjoy using natural lines, I am afraid vanity is prevailing and I just want something which will help with improving overall texture and brightness.
Good luck with your search Smoothskin ... I must say, I do also enjoy trying out new things ... |
