I'm looking for something for my hormonal acne, sensitive skin sister and she said that scrubs can irritate her skin. She also said the dermatologist said to use a chemical exfoliant rather than a scrub. I use Epidermx and think that would be to harsh for sensitive skin. Any opinions? She has acne scars and redness. THANKS! |

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant works like a scrub, but it's gentle because the particles are very fine and not too abrasive. It looks like a fine white powder. I like it. A little goes a long way. I add it to my regular cleanser and massage in, then rinse off. I have sensitive skin and rosacea, and it does not irritate my skin.

The microfoliant is a bead type powder that you mix with alot of water to form a thick paste then apply to skin, the beads aren't applied directly to the skin as they would just pour out of your hand. IMO they would suit sensitive skin as I use it even when my skin is really red from Retin A. |

yes, I use it as a scrub too. It's very good! I can see my pores are clean after I use this! Highly recommend! |

I use a bit and let a lot of water fall into my palm in the shower on top of it -- for me it mizes into a perfectly slippery cleanser, not a scrub. It is so sudsy and clean-rinsing it is almost like a detergent, except a magic one that does not irritate the skin or make it red. I leave it on my face a while as you would a hair conditioner, to let the enzymes work. Just a sprinkle is all I need. I recommend it. You can buy sets of 8 samples on eBay. that was my introduction, and i repurchased a regular size. Redness had been an issue for me.
However, I also tolerate EpxII. I use just a small amount -- somewhere between the size of a lentil and a pea, and massage gently. One can get samples of this as well from great new skin or gold port beauty. I highly recommend this as well!
I have tried plenty of other things, including things I learned of here, and not been nearly as impressed as I was with EpxII and Dermalogica's Microfoliant. Try them! |

my sister uses this on her rosacia-prone skin and loves it. I imagine it's better not to scrub with it since the enzymes do the exfoliating work by themselves. |

i believe it's mainly a chemical exfoliant with its enzymes. i also feel the little beads on my face when i use it, but i don't massage it too hard and long when i use it so i rely on the chemical enzymes to do the exfoliation. |

I think anyway, the more and harder you massage, the more quickly they dissolve, esp. with enough water.
btw, to whomever: when Isaid redness was an issue for me, I meant in general not from the Microfoliant. The Microfoliant doesn't seem to irritate or cause redness, despite the squeaky clean cleansing that it does. |

Yes to Carrots has a really nice exfoliator that I use daily because it's so very gentle, it's also paraben free.

I use the Daily Microfoliant Daily and it's a scrub, but the lactic acid does most of the exfoliating. If you're looking for a purely chemical exfoliant in the dermalogica line, try the gentle cream exfoliant...it has NO scrubby feeling...you just leave it on for 10 minutes and the lactic and salycitic acids do all the work. I think it's great once a week, but I'm sure you could use it 2-3 times a week too. |

This product is the BOMB! Has the effect of a scrub, without feeling like you have been scrubbed... The most gentle and most effective exfoliant I have tried. Can use daily. |

I have been using this stuff daily for two months now and i do think it's helping my skin, but I seem to have these little red spots (1-2 on each cheek) on a regular basis. My facialist says they are "milia" and that the daily scrubbing has brought them to the surface. Eventually, she says, they'll stop, but in the mean time my usually clear cheeks have red spots...has anyone else had this experience? |
