Dry brushing before your shower will slough off the yuckkies. After shower leave your skin slightly damp (I normally just slather in the shower after I turn off the water) with a oil mixture that I scent and for the super dry areas I'll put on some shea butter - then pat dry. By that time I'm normally pretty dried though, so tossing on my fluffy bathrobe is enough.
A good sugar scrub a few times a week will help too. I am the Queen of super-dry winter skin... this routine has helped tremendously. |

i exfoliate my body using a soft brush, and then i use petroleum jelly right after the shower. it's inexpensive and works great for the dry winters we have up here. |

Cetaphil gentle wash in the shower, followed by Cetaphil moisturizing creme slathered all over. I can't live without this stuff. |

I used to have a lot of problems with dry skin on my body, eczema, and I discovered Garden Botanika years ago... and I swear that their body wash and moisture lotion are just fantabulous!
Every once in a while I will do a sugar or salt scrub... and I use a mesh body sponge (pouf) that exfoliates the skin while I lather up.
Over the years I have strayed every once in a while to try something different, but nothing else really works with my skin. I have been OK with the Ice Elements body lotion, however, and do use that from time to time, but always my Garden Botanika shower gel.
I swear my skin is soft, smooth and hydrated... I just really love their body stuff! Although at first glance it may look like Bath and Body Works or any of the others out there, it isn't. I have tried them all and this stuff is the best, IMHO.
I think that they are having their big winter sale now if you want to try something... at http://gardenbotanika.com |

Which kind of body wash and lotion do you use? They sell this brand at a store near me and I've never thought about trying it but I"m always looking for good dry skin products. |

I've been using jojoba oil after the shower and before I go to sleep, sometimes I mix it with Trader Joe's body cream. I also use a loofah with either just soap or some body gel in the shower. I think the key is reapplying as often as possible. |

I like the Gold Bond and Ahava Mineral Lotion. I'm not a fan of oils or scented lotions. |

Does anyone have keratosis pilaris? This is red pimple-like bumps on your hair follicles. Mainly on thighs. I tend to have this when I shave especially and was wondering if anyone knows of a good acid lotion for legs that has a low ph. I've used scrubs, oils and love gold bond in the winter. Just wondering if there is anything better out there. |

Also, what can I do internally to help. I know I need to drink a LOT more water and eat more EFA's. Is there anything else I can do, eat or take in supplement form? Thanks! |
The following works well for me;
INTERNAL; Hyaluronic Acid 100mg a day
Lots of water
EXTERNAL; Alba Sea Salt Body Scrub twice a week
(I use it with a loofah as the final
step after shower or bath)
The Hyaluronic Acid supplement is awesome. It even cleared up my dry crusty heels after about 10 days. That was a complete surprise!

Hi Kassy,
Where do you get your HA supplements from? |

Rebecca, are you talking about Neutrogena's Sesame Body Oil? If so, I love this too! My skin is super silky after using this. |

I have found my HG of body moisturizers: Ojon Tawaka Rejuvenating Tribal Cream! It is AMAZING!!!!! You have to try this! You can pick up a sample pack with this in it on QVC. I used to have terribly red, itchy, dry legs after shaving. Not any more!! |

Another tip is to add your lotion/oil or whatever you're using to moisturise right after stepping out of the shower and are still wet. Don't wait until you're dry. |
I totally agree with you, Seaera ... same way I do |

I've heard to put body lotion/cream on no later than two or three minutes after you get out of the shower. Seaer's right. When your body is wet and clean, it more readily absorbs what you put on it. |

I cannot stress enough the awesomeness of dry-brushing. It makes the skin feel alive! It stimulates the lymphatic system, helps to drain excess water, exfoliates the dead skin, stimulates collagen production, aids in eliminating cellulite, you name it!
The thing is: you must moisturize with oils instead of body moisturizers, because most moisturizers have silicones or binders that create films on the skin, and the dry brush will just get icky after a while and not do its job so well... My favorite thing to do is to dry brush just before a nightly bath--to which I add trader joe's lavender body oil. Any oil skims the surface of the water and adheres to the skin when you get into the bath. So basically you are moisturized when you get out--without any effort!
And on the lazy moisturizing note:
Manslayerliz: I love your spray bottle idea--it's fabulous!
The other thing is: you cannot expect immediate results. Dry brushing is really a lifestyle change, a lifetime investment. But it will guarantee healthy, soft, moisturized skin.

Moisturize from within: essential fatty acids in the right combo, hyaluronic acid supplements, drink lots of water
dry brushing - best brush I've found is Yerba Prima's Tampico Skin Brush (natural fibers) - some health food stores carry or you can find online: http://www.yerba.com/storefront/item.asp?id=73
use Microplane on feet - best one I've used is from QVC: www.qvc.com
Microplane 4-piece Remove, Smooth, and Hydrate Foot Care Set -- Intro Price $21.93 -- Item V25812
Moisturize when still damp coming out of the shower. My favorite is to use the Body Shop's dry oil sprayswww.thebodyshop.com (unfortunately they discontinued all but the olive and passionfruit dry oil sprays). Neutrogena sesame oil absorbs quickly too. The problem with other oils often is that they don't absorb quickly so if you're getting dressed and going out...
Body wash with AHA's like Pure & Basic: http://www.pureandbasic.com/products/bath_and_body/body_wash/
Whole Foods will order if they don't have it on the shelves. The Pure & Basic AHA lotion and / or Kiss My Face's Peach AHA lotion are good and reasonably priced too.
St. Ives used to make a good & cheap Peach AHA body wash -- for some reason they discontinued - BIG |

Try Clarin's body lotion for dry skin.
It's about $50 a bottle, works really well!! |
