I've recently read that 'hoof cream' is great to use on nails as a strengthener. Has anyone tried it.
If yes:
Whats the best one?
Where can I buy it?
Thanks Karen |

well girls as I've had no replies thought I'd try it out.
Fab results my nails are amazing after just one week. I found a supplier on the net and the hoof cream was dead cheap.
i recommend it to anyone with bad nails.

LOL! I can vouch for this but only because I use it on my horses hooves and usually get it on me too! Its basically emollients used to trap water in the hoof and/or keep out excess moisture - so in summer it prevents hooves drying out and going brittle due to lack of moisture; and in winter it prevents the hooves going soggy and soft/weak by repelling excess water. In summer I usually use it over wet hooves to trap water under it for the hoof wall to absorb - might be worth a try on dry nails too!!Be careful though if you're veggie as some are animal based (like Kevin Bacons which is basically lard!) does the job but not everyones cup of tea, some also contain anti fungals/anti bacterials which isn't necessarily a bad thing but its wise to read the ingredients (avoid keratex hoof dressing as it is an irritant to stimulate hoof growth but its not supposed to get on skin; for example and anything with tar!) |

Thanks for that, didn't think anyone was out there!!! I bought the hoof cream in a small tub from a beauty supplier so should be ok for us two footed creatures Good tip about the water though as my nails are a bit dry so will try using it with damp hands. Also I'm keeping it off the so called cuticle area as I don't want thick ones!
Cheers Karen |
