I used to use Cetaphil and Cerave in the past but then switched to natural products (Sheaterra lotion) and I feel like my skin stayed moiturized better with the drugstore brand. Thich contains silicones and petroleum jelly/mineral oil as well as more glycerin which seem to do a better job to hold moisture in.
Anyone else feel that way?
I dont' like parabens in skin care so I wouldn't want to use Cerave anymore though. |

Hi Monica,
I definitely think it's the natural products you're using. silicones make lotions super silky and give the feel of hydration but it's all kinda illusory.
i just recently tried mountain rose herbs orange and chamomile face cream and i have to say it's more moisturizing of a cream than any artificial or natural brands out there that i have tried.
it's best to apply lotion on damp skin (right after a shower) to help the skin retain more moisture.

Yes Monica I do! Silicones and petroleum and mineral oil are very good moisture binding ingredients for skin. Glycerin is even better. Plus they give your moisturizers nice slip. ANY product will do well on damp skin whether its natural or mass marketed. Emollient ingredients are what you look for to use on dry skin. |
