I'm interested in this!! Between my heavy frown lines (thanks for the frown genes, mom) and a down-turned mouth, I've had strangers saying 'cheer up, love' for years, when in actual fact I've been in a perfectly good mood! |

I've had several rounds of Sculptra. The first time looked the best-really nice overall effect but subsequent times I had ti done after that I only saw minor improvement. I didn't need much though but it felt like I couldn't improve upon it even doing it every year or so..Maybe I was again rapidly haha.It did work though and of course the key is having a great injector so you don't get lumps. I was lucky!
I think the crap thing about Scupltra is that it is no good for tear troughs/under eyes and for me anyway that's the first sign of aging and looking tired. So then if you use it to plump cheeks which it does nicely it can make under eye depression seem deeper so not a great look.
If it worked under the eyes and in thinner skinned areas i'd be completely sold!
I'm going to do Restylane under eyes instead next month..seems to be the safest.
Also I think Scupltra in my jowl area might have made it worse. I think you are supposed to make sure not to inject it right into that area but around it or more in the upper cheek to Lift the whole face.. |

This is what worries me about getting sculptra, or any kind of filler. I saw pictures of Madonna recently and her huge cheeks made the under-eye area look very hollow...not a great look indeed! |

I want this for the lips, I already have quite plump lips due to at home measures including the use of lip plumping skincare products and devices so am looking for more of a subtle plumping? |

Well, I am a month on from my second Sculptra treatment and I am absolutely loving the results! I have had 4 vials now, mostly in my cheeks and have had a small amount around the jaw line, which has really improved things there.
I had problems with a really aymetrical face and my doctor has evened it out nicely. The results are subtle, but people have said how well I look, which is great........and the results aren't final yet. I have one more treatment to go, probably just one more vial as a touch up. I will then leave it a few months and see what the full results are.
I would say if you have ever thought about it, and can afford it....just do it! |

Thanks for that. Do you feel it has given your face/cheeks a more perky/uplifted look?

Please keep us updated with your progress- I'm really interested in Sculptra. I must admit the results I have seen online look incredible. |

I feel I have a definate lift and more volume in the cheek areas. This has lifted the NL lines slightly and my jawline is smoother.
My face had changed a lot over the past 8 years due to illness, which caused weight gain, and now I am losing it again, there was a fair bit of sagging.
Until recently, I was totally against anything injected into me, but I would now recommend it to anyone, and as long as I can afford it will continue indefinately with the Sculptra.......Go on...........get it done.... |

I'm interested in this thread as my dermatologist recently suggested sculptra, about which I knew nothing. I did some research on the net & found lots of people unhappy with their results - it seems, as others have said, that experience and an aesthetic sense is the key. I am attracted by the basic approach that one's own production of collagen is stimulated, which seems to make it more 'natural' in some sense than many other procedures. The fact that it takes time to see results wouldn't bother me so much - better than everyone suspecting you'd had a facelift. Also, I imagine that the gradual approach makes it possible to make subtle changes depending on the results achieved so far - unlike e.g. permanent fillers which you are stuck with forever. But I still haven't committed yet - although I'm sorely tempted - so I'll go on following this thread with great interest. BTW, my derm estimated the cost at around 1200 Euros for 3 sessions at 6-8 weekly intervals - I leave it to you to work out what that might be in pounds or $ - assuming the Euro even still exists in 6 weeks time. But as it's supposed to last for around 2 years that's not really that expensive - if it works... |

i do think the subtleness is the beauty of Sculptra. Even though it does work gradually, to me the results are noticeable/
i had 5 vials of Scultra at £400 per vial, so 1200 euros is I think quite reasonable. I think the most important thing to remember is to find a doctor who has vast experience of injecting the product. Do your homework and go to the best in your area.
Let us know what you decide to do. |

The way things are going in Europe (and everywhere for that matter) you might be better off buying gold before it skyrockets. Then when it does skyrocket, you might even have enough money for a facelift. If you have to trade in Euros for a new type of currency, you will always be shortchanged. That's another way the greedy bankers rip us all off. |

Starbright - you are so right! Actually I think gold has alrady skyrocketed, but that doesn't mean it won't go even higher. Like everyone else, I wish I'd thought of this sooner.
I'm still undecided about sculptra, although encouraged by some of the positive comments about. By the way, has it been mentioned on this thread that sculptra has been used for over e decade to build up the faces of HIV-positive people who suffer from atrophy of facial fat? I saw a 2-part video showing its effects on the face of a 40ish male (apparently not promotional, just explanatory) and the results were remarkable. |

I am also interested in Sculptra in the NL area, I like the idea of something that builds up your own collegen and is not immediatly noticable. I have also seen pics of Maddona and Kylie looking very 'pillow faced'. Would that be from another type of filler like Juvaderm? |

I think celebrities would have abit of everything!! Sculpta for long term and Juvaderm and the likes for more instant results, nice idea if you can afford it!! |

Hi Starbright, do you mind if I ask which Doctor you went to? I'm in the UK too and thinking of having sculptra, so I would be grateful to hear. |

I wasn't unhappy with my experience with Sculptra - although I wasn't exactly happy either in that I think the results were basically negligible. But considering my age, I'm relatively line free compared to other woman of my generation.
I only had two treatments. I would have been quite happy to have had more had I been able to afford it. I see that Starbright had five vials, so that's allot more than I had. I might look at getting this done again in the future. |

Hi
I am extremely happy with my sculptra and went to a dr Xavier in Southampton, he lectures in this procedure and has been interviewed
Many times on tv, I have no lumps and had my last one done in June ( I think ) I had 2, and would like to have maybe 1 more when I have the money. |

Isn't just cheaper to buy sculptra on your own and find someone you know very well like RN and pay her to inject you like $50. Seriously, I just can not believehow those Dr's, ripping off people for something which has no 100% garantee how long its gona last or desirable effect you gona get and making profit 3 times what they pay if not more.
I rather spend hours study on my own how they do it, then let them leave me without underwear. |

This might be a valid point for other fillers - but it's my understanding that the technique for injecting Sculptra (which isn't technically a filler) is more crucial to its effectiveness. There is a risk of lumps forming if it is not done correctly.
I would not have Sculptra injected by anyone other than someone who had extensive experience in handling it. |

Hi everyone,
I am still dithering about sculptra and I wonder whether anyone who has had it would care to give us all an update. The ones who were happy - are you still? The ones who were not so impressed - are you more impressed now? I would love to have some feedback about your experiences.
Thanks!

For me, I definitely didn't get the "Wow" factor. But after only two treatments, I suppose that's not really a realistic expectation. If money was no object, I would probably go and get regular treatments of it - but that isn't an option for me. |

My friend's friend has Sculptra. She's very happy with. Says it really helped to fill out her long, thin face. |

If you get bumps from slulptra, can you just massage the areas so they flatten out? |

You shouldn't end up with any bumps from Sculptra. I realise that this was once a common complaint about it - but I think they changed the formula and injectors should have the skill to avoid this problem. |

Anyone have any recent updates on Scupltra? And for those that got it done a few years back are you seeing lasting effects and do you go for yearly top ups?
At a consultation, I was told that for adding cheek volume, you need approximately one vial per decade of age, so 5 vials if you are 50 to get started. No more than 2 vials at each appointment with a 6-8 week wait in between. After the initial series, it's then only vial each year.
I decided to give it a try and had one vial into each cheek 4 weeks ago. My next appointment in is a couple weeks. I still don't see much yet, but its supposed to take 3 months to show up. I'm hoping I haven't thrown away $ here... |

Can anyone recommend a good injector for Sculptra in the New England area preferably Boston vicinity? I'd like a personal recommendation, i.e. an injector that you know (first hand or via friends) is very good. Thanks!! |
