So how was your day? Great? Mediocre? Absolutely horrible? Husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, significant other or kids driving you up the wall. Did you just hit the lotto, lose your job or buy a house.. Do you hear good or bad news that you just want to talk about You get the idea..
What's your rant or rave for the day?
My rant for the day is that I'm pissed off at my daughter in law....my little 13 month old grandson has yet another black eye from falling. Dear DIL, thinks it's a good idea for the little guy to "explore". "After all Mom, how else will he learn"?.....His first lesson was when he got stitches in his face when he was 6 months old......grrrrrr!!

My comments for the day are a combination of a rant and a rave. I have been working for months now (including today) on trying to get my house decluttered and that is my rant - how did I let myself accumulate so much stuff?? It's mostly junk at that. I am so frustrated with myself for letting it get this far. But that then leads me to my rave - the more stuff I get rid of, the better I feel! I've got two more bags of clothes to take to the local charity plus tons of stuff that's going in the trash. Hopefully coming days with less clutter will be filled with less ranting and more raving.
Sorry to hear about your grandson's black eye Kassy. It always breaks my heart to see a little one get hurt. |

I'm just a hopeless night owl from all the years I worked the night shift. |

Turn off yours, too! Don't let him know it upsets you. Be as unapproachable as he is, and see how he likes it. Then after all the phones get turned on again, it's time for a conversation. |

Hee, indeed you do!
But in keeping with the theme of the thread, here's my rant for today:
I went to a job interview on foot, just to get a feel for what the walking time would be. And it was VERY bitterly cold -- I was an icicle on the way home. And ever since I got back from it, I feel borderline feverish, like I actually caught something from all that shivering!
I read years ago that people get sick more in the winter not because of the cold itself, but because the weather makes them stay inside more and they wind up sharing more germs that way. So I never really believed that cold itself could make you sick. Who knows if it's related or not, but I feel like crap! Boo. |

Talking about feeling CRAP......
I was so sick for last 3 days. My fever would not go away, my whole body ached especially my ankles and knees. To a point I wished I could chop off my lower body. I coughed a lot and my throat hurt.
The worst part was, I did not lose my appetite and I ate more than I used to. I GAIN 5 POUNDS FOR BEING SOOOOOOO SICK IN 3 DAYS. I keeping on telling myself it's just water retention. I'll lose all after I feel better and exercise again.
How did this happen?? Aren't you supposed to lose your appetite and lose 5 pounds instead? |

Oh, that SUCKS! About a year ago I had an intestinal parasite that did a number on my stomach and appetite, but the meds they prescribed to rid me of it were so hard on my stomach that I had to eat a ton of super-rich fatty food to pad my system. So I too wound up gaining weight from something that's at least supposed to have the ONE benefit of slimming you a bit during all that misery! Bollocks! |

I hope you all feel better soon. Seems like so many are sick right now. Half of my office was out yesterday.
Anyhow, my rant of the moment is for people that drive slow in the passing lane. Drive right, pass left. (At least in the U.S.) It's pretty simple, but so many think it doesn't apply to them. I just don't understand how someone can be oblivious to the 20 cars stacked up behind them while they merrily match the slow speed of the U-Haul truck right beside them on their right mile after mile. It's beyond discourteous. It brings out road rage in me, and I hate feeling like that. If you're not passing the car on your right, get over so others can pass.
Aaaahhh. I feel better now. Thanks, I needed that. |

**********RANT for today**********
My DH has just got on my last nerve!
What a swift pain in the &^#......
Typical male crap, rather than make one quick phone call for directions, we spent an hour riding around aimlessly........grrrrrr.
And to top it all off, my guess on a turn that he laughed at, was right all along.... |

My rant: Does anybody else have this problem. My dh is a really nice guy good with dd but when it comes to cleaning up they're both impossible (in fact dd complains to dh whenever I ask her to pick up). Sometimes I'm just so tired that I could cry but asking for help is always perceived as nagging. Leaving things doesn't work because they don't care.
What does everybody else do?
PS: At four years old my dd said to me " my daddy and I make messes and you clean them up and that is the way of the world" |

Sorry about the man-dirt dilemma, but I can only echo Kassy. My DH is 61 and leaves his dirty clothes next to the clothes hamper. WTF!!?!?! I guess at some point I either hit him with a frying pan or resign myself to continue to dump his stuff in the hamper. Just for the record, I've never resorted to violence...yet. My father makes a big joke out of saying "man make dirt, woman clean dirt. man make mess, woman clean mess." He's really not too far off, is he? but it drives my mom nuts when he says it. ('Course, she's been cleaning up after him all her life.)
Oh, and the 'typical male crap' of not asking for directions? That doesn't seem to diminish with age, either. Sheesh. |

Gah, my boyfriend of nearly two years does the clothes-on-the-floor thing too, and it makes me crazy. Especially because when we have to stick to our scheduled laundry slot, he HATES the task of having to drop everything and sort the dirty stuff into hampers for me to wash, since I don't know what's dirty. (We both hate doing laundry in our crappy coin-op complex, but I prefer the washing part and he prefers the folding dry clothes part, so that's how we divvy it up.)
EVERY SINGLE WEEK I smile sweetly-but-not and tell him that I will NEVER AGAIN interrupt his emailing or videogaming or reading or whatever to sort his laundry, if he'd just put the damn stuff in the hampers when he takes it off! I keep trying to "train" him for the future, but I'm realizing it's kind of a long path, as these posts indicate!
The good thing is, he honestly says he wants to make a better habit of it, and we talked about how to do that. (And lord knows I have some awful habits too.) We decided we're going to buy a pretty-looking, display-friendly hamper and stick it in the exact spot where he always dumps his stuff. And he says he doesn't mind my "reminding" (read: nagging, at least that's what I feel like), because he says it does help beat the message into his head over time!
Hah, but for what it's worth, it's my MOM who's chronically bad about getting directions. She was showing me the new house she's in the process of arranging to BUY, and a ten-minute drive became thirty because she couldn't remember how to get there. |

I like the idea of putting a hamper where they normally drop the clothing but the most frequent spot is in the living room in front of the TV
I might resort to that though. We have two dogs and they carry things everywhere. DH keeps running out of socks even though I keep buying them. |

Ah, I could use a good whine session!! It's Monday and I'm at work - after about half an hour of being here, I was going to ask my boss if I could go home because I'm not feeling well. Just feeling exhausted and also a bit nauseous. I found out that not only is my boss out today, but my coworker who would be my back up if I wasn't here also called out sick. So I have to tough it out.
I just keep telling myself that I will take it as easy as I can and just relax tonight at home. Take a hot bath and watch a movie or something. Hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow.
It feels good to vent!
Coincidentally, wine and cheese sounds pretty good right now... |
