Was just wondering if anyone can help with advice on which brush is the best one to buy for application of the foundation & mineral veil.
The Kabuki or the Maximum Coverage?

Also, I've never tried the Bare Escentuals products before but after reading rave reviews I've decided to give them a try. It's very hard to choose the right shade though based on pictures you see on the internet. The colours are not always true.
I have brown hair, brown eyes with pale skin and some freckles, I burn relatively easily in the sun. Usually when buying foundation I would go for either the lightest or 2nd lightest shade. I always buy translucent powders. I'm thinking I should be going for the Bare Escentuals #1 Fair. Anybody out there who has this particular shade? Is it really pale? Is it slightly pinky in tone?

Thanks in advance! Smile

OOOOOhhhhhhh!

I just bought a sable BE kabuki brush off ebay for £15 and a tub of number 2 foundation! No idea how to use, but I have been sold on the idea of the stuff!
Let us know how you get on!

I am blonde with fair skin with a somewhat sallow undertone. I always wear either medium or medium beige... or a combo of the two.

I'm pretty fair and I couldn't possibly wear a fair in BE.

I have several of the BE brushes, but never got the kabuki brush. I did however buy a Jane Iredale brush this week. It's a little different. It's fluffy, veeeeerrrrry soft, and flat on the end.

I got a real surprice today when I used it with BE powder. I found that you REALLY have to tap the excess powder out before brushing it on your face with the JI brush. You should have seen me with that first stroke. My chin look like geisha makeup. Shock

Toe,

I usually go for the lightest shade of foundation, and I use #1 or #1.2 in the Bare Minerals range. I used to think that #1 was the prefect match but I actually tend to go with the #1.2 nowadays when I reash for the BE.

In terms of application, I highly recommend the Jane Iredale Handi Brush. I have not tried the BE Kabuki, but I have the brushes that came with the starter kit. The JI Handi is much better IMO.

Which is the JI "handy brush"? The one I bought the other day has a blonde wood handle, is very fluffy and soft and is very flat on the end, but puffs out to the sides all around.

As I said, I like it, but it does seem to hold a lot more powder than the BE brushes that come with the kit. I have to tap it to get extra powder out several times.

I had never noticed the numbers on my BE labels. Medium is #3 and Medium Beige is #3.5. I've never tried any other colors, and could probably go back to 2.5, but can't imagine going any lighter than that and I thought I was pretty fair, although I do get out in the sun quite a bit, living on the waterfront... and in Texas.

This is the one I'm talking about. It is softer than the BE brushes (I also have to tap those though) but I find it's much easier to work with.

Yep, no doubt about it; sometimes you just have to draw me a picture Laughing

That is the JI brush I just bought. Finally, after looking at the picture, I walked to the other end of the house and looked at the name on the side of the brush. Smile

I'm liking it better and better. I just have to tap it a little more than I seemed to need to do with the BE brushes. However, it is MUCH softer than the BE brushes and I love the way it feels.

I love all JI brushes. I think I have everyone of her brushes. They last forever. The Handi brush gets a lot of use for my blush and loose powder when I wear. Her fan brush is my favorite as I usually only wear blush over tinted moisturizer. I have never purchased BE brushes. As I told you before, I spent my paycheck on products when I worked in salon Embarassed . Fell in love with JI shadows, lipsticks, pencils and BRUSHES. Good investment.
