So if BE 2.3 (medium beige) is quite a good match, but a bit too light, but medium tan is too dark, which EDM colour would be my best match? I've ordered samples of warm-medium beige, warm-medium beige summer, and olive-golden medium, but I haven't received them yet. Any thoughts? My skin is a bit yellowtoned, but too much yellow makes me look sallow, so I guess a balanced fdt is better for me (MAC NC too yellow, NW too red). When it comes to blushes and E/S, I definitely look better in cooler tones.
For reference, my skintone is medium, my eyes blue/green/grey (quite dark), and my hair medium brown.
(Yes, I'll probably order more sample kits, but it would be nice to have an idea about what to look for, instead of continuing with the random stabs in the dark. I'm not the most patient person in the world). |

When it comes to MMU, I have found there is NO way around purchasing several colors in order to blend the ideal!! The good thing is that I can get a great match year round.
I do find it tricky when it comes to finding something not too yellow, or not too pink, but if I have a few choices I can get the right balance. Personaly, I use 2 or sometimes 3 shades at any given time. Good luck |

I had tried samples from EDM when they first offered them.
I have purchased from about 20 different MMU companies. While I like the EDM and was able to wear it, I found it it wore off quickly on me. At the end of day, my face could look almost naked. I should add that I am oily sensitive. The nice thing about EDM is that you can also try some blush samples (I have Apple and Weekend Getaway and they are nice.) and you are only paying for postage.
I really think the best thing to do is to try lots of samples from various companies. I also would order fun things like blush and eye shadow so if the foundation was not for me at least I would have something else in my order to try.
Some good forums for talk about MMU is
Delphi forums - Mineral Makeup mania
http://forums.delphiforums.com/mineralmania/start
Also Makeuptalk.com - the mineral section. Also on MUT is a section with sales, coupon codes, etc.

I visit those forums often still even though I am trying to cut back on my mineral spending!
Another thing I will add is that I am able to wear a couple of different brands. I need just one shade. However, many companies will do a custom blend for you if you need to mix two colours. |

Also there is some useful charts on this forum. A lot of members starting with BE and then moved on to other brands. One of the charts shows comparable colours of BE to other brands including the EDM. Some MMU owners are very good at suggesting colours based on what you are using and/or if you send a photo.
Good luck in finding a match |

The reason EDM caught my attention, was the enormous colour selection, but now it only makes me confused. In addition, I want a quite transparent result with a nice glow; nothing too drying or full coverage.
I've only tried BE (as I said, I'm between colours, but definitely on the neutral side), Lily Lolo (YELLOW!! and very chalky, not particularly finely milled), GloMinerals (best so far, but expensive), and a small local company, where I really like the finish, but can't find a neutral shade to fit me perfectly.
So which are the good ones to consider? bismuth free, ships worldwide without horrendous charges, and nice finish?
Is Lumiere good? |
