Week 8 today!
I was not peeling either by week 4....I stepped up from .025 Retin-A to .05 Retin-A. About a week later, I noticed irritation and peeling around the chin and nose area. That seems to come and go now?
I still have quite a few clogged pores in the chin area? Should I go to my aesthetician and have extractions or microderm or something to unclog my pores. Or... do you think the Obagi will eventually take care of them? |

I had that flaky skin especially around my mouth for pretty much the remainder of the course on Obagi after it finally started, dm26! I think with your prior use of differin, you may not ever get dry or flaky. And, honestly, consider yourself lucky, because it is not a pretty site to come home and see these dry little flakes on your face! Keep us posted about your progress! |

Well, day 8 and my skin is slightly sore (especially around the mouth...it hurts to eat.)
I normally wear make-up to work, but after day 7 my skin looked too scaly for this so I decided to forgo make-up for the total time I am on Obagi.
OH MY GOD! My colleagues asked if I was ill. One of my bosses said I looked terrible would I like to go home, and I keep getting odd looks from other members of staff. Has anyone else experienced this?
After all of this, I don't care I am beginning to see good skin, and I am so excited! |

I wonder that can I apply only Blender without Retin A at night |

guntz, if you only want 1 HQ product, use the Clear. The blender is meant for "blending" with the Retin A. It helps the RA penetrate deeper. |

Thanks a lot rileygirl
But I have one more question, which one is the most effective result between Clear and Blender? Or should I use them both??? (Clear in the morning, Blender at night)
Actually I want to try Blender with Retin A, but my skin is dry so I wonder that I can use Retin A or not. |

dm26, I stopped after the 18 weeks. I am a product junkie and I was chomping at the bit to try all these things people had talked about during my 18 weeks on obagi! I started obagi again 3 weeks ago and the freckles that had popped back up are almost gone again. I would say I have maybe 5-6 freckles left at this point, but they are very light! |

ok guys, it's been 12 days since i started my obagi nu derm regimen. i am experiencing some redness. i have a breakout on my chin . all this is somewhat discouraging but i really hope that after 12 weeks i can see some positives.
i've also noticed some white flakes on my face especially after applying the sunblock at day and blender and tretinoin at night. is this what ur face looks like when it's peeling or is this just residue from the products?? |

dm26, so far, Obagi has been the best thing for my skin. It is the ONLY thing that has produced results for me.
The flakes you see on your face, that is your "peeling". I think I mentioned earlier somewhere (!) that is really is not peeling but a lot of flakes. You can use a microfiber cloth to gently exfoliate when they become too much, or a very, very mild scrub. Keep going, dm26. You will be happy with your skin. You need 18 weeks for the full obagi cycle. |

thanks rileygirl, i guess i am peeling after all. hope this phase doesn't last too long.
i'm also curious as to what the maintenance phase includes. do u stick with obagi products or can u use any type of product?? my derm told me that obagi products are too strong to use over a long period of time. i'm afraid my skin will be a mess again when i'm finished with my obagi cycle |

Well, I would tell you to follow what your derm has you do, first off. But, usually on maintenance with obagi, you use the exfoderm 2-3 times a week (in the morning), the Clear 2-3 times a week (in the morning), and the blender/RA 2-3 times a week (in the evening). On the days you are not using the obagi products, you can use whatever you like. That is the Standard maintenance on obagi. Some people need more HQ to keep the freckles away, some need less. But, again, your derm probably knows your skin and is the best one to tell you how to maintain your results!
P.S. You will probably flake off and on for the rest of the time on obagi! |

Rileygirl, I know Obagi is great for hyperpigmentation, but do you think it also helps with fine lines? Thanks in advance! Coleen |

Hi, Coleen! Yes, I do think it helps with fine lines. I am sure that this is due to the Retin A use, plus maybe a tiny bit due to the AHA product that you are using.
I have used Retin A off and on for years, more off than on (!). It wasn't until the addition of the blender (which is supposed to help make the retin a penetrate deeper), as well as using the retin a daily for 18 weeks that I did see a reduction in fine lines, as well as some tightening of my skin at my jaw line. No miracles, mind you. I have some deeper wrinkles that were not touched at all. Hope that helps! |

thanks rileygirl, i'm just afraid that if i stop using obagi after the 18 weeks my face would break out all over again. but i guess i'll wait to hear what my derm has to say with regards to maintenance when that time comes.
i do have a tip for u guys who find the flaking and peeling unbearable. my derm gave me this advice: mix a small amount of cetaphil moisturizer with ur 1g of exfoderm and apply to ur face (during the day of course coz thats when ur supposed to use exfoderm). anyway it's supposed to help alleviate those annoying flakes. just thought i'd share this tip with u guys. good luck. |

Hang in there, Obagi products are great, if you can put up with discomfort for a while. Dr. Obagi has also developed some new products that reduce the incidence of side effects. It will make the whole experience more tolerable. If you want some recommendations, let me know. |

I just passed 14 weeks on Nu derm system. But starting a week ago, my face wasn't peeling and flaking anymore and no redness, no dry all of sudden. And it seems like my faded Freckles is coming back to darker a little bit. (not like origianal status though)
I don't want to see my freckles coming back...My freckles were really really faded not completely gone though. But My left side of my face is ok but my right side of my face has freckles coming back...
Please advise me..why my face is not peeling and flaking anymore ..(I didn't peel that much before but ususally I had a peeling around my nose and mouth all the time after using Retin A w/ Blender... But Now I don't see any of them..completely...Do I have to bump up Retin A 0.1??? I bumped up from 0.025 to 0.05 during 14 weeks process already.....Or this is normal phase at this point (no more peeling anymore)?? |

Azumma, are you using enough of the products (1 gram or 1/2 a gram whatever the product calls for?). If you are using enough of the products, bump up your RA to 1% and make sure you are wearing a really good sunscreen at all times. |
