Worst for some and ideal for others. Please share your bad experiences with certain products.
Disclaimer: This post is not to put down any product. Since we all know we have different skin types and can be allergic to some ingredient in some products. One product can be perfect for one, and worst for the other. If this post is offensive or disobey the rules of the forum, its ok to remove it. |

I have found clinique skin care products to be too harsh for my skin. My mother loves their toner and moisturizer and she has extremely dry skin.
Mac studio is a good powder and it covers well, but after sometime i notice that it breaks me out. Maybe i do not clean my skin well or it settles in my pores. I love their eye and lip shades. |

I also didn't suit the Clinque 3-steps, felt like it totally stripped my skin. Make up is ok though.  |

I found that the Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel really dried out my skin. Only used it for 2 weeks and then just gave up on it. Couldn't bear having dry, flaking skin.  |

I had heard that the SAs use step 2 to clean the counters  ....could just be a vicious rumour tho 
for me as a brand I'm not very keen on l'oreal skincare...the moisturisers tend to peel off! |

I have a friend that works at a Clinique counter and she swears some of the ingredients in one of their toners is also listed in finger nail polish removers. I can't remember which one it was now.

I also didn't get on well with the Clinique 3 step. Shame as it was my first experience with what I thought at the time was top of the range skincare. Put me right off for a few years! Ended up with really really parched red skin!
But I have to say I quite like their moisturisers and I like their make-up. |

| My worst experience was Avotox. My skin got so dry. It was supposed to help fade my lines and wrinkles. After two weeks they showed up more. I think that was because my skin got so dehydrated. Anyway, I must say.... No questions asked they credited my credit card. Just returned the unused product. |

| The absolute worst for me was also clinique 3-step, next worst dermalogica, then estee lauder. My face really doesn't like much!! |

I have to concur with the majority in this thread. Clinique is one of the worst skin care lines I have ever come across. I admit, I used it in the beginning of my quest for good skin care when I was in high school (it was recommended by many at that time), but after migrating to other "better" products it made me realize that these products didn't do anything for me at all.

let me kindly state a fact:
CLINIQUE IS THE WORST SKIN LINE IN THE WORLD 
if you look at their list of ingredients, its drying alcohols and chemicals from start to finish! Their scruffing lootion can EVEN STRIP PAINT!!
if they spent half of what spend on packaging on sourcing natural ingredients, they might have a fighting chance! 
I dont believe one skin care line can totally work for anyone. I use a combo of Dermalogica, Yonka, Eminence Organics (oooh, Divine) Decleor, and Gatineau (their Mateliance Effervescent formula is second-to-none when it comes to the most purifying cleanser, although all of their other products are not very good).
I pick and choose the heroes from each range!  |

Like so many other of you I have to say clinique 3-step is the worst... I too have used it as my first meeting with serious skincare. Total disaster I have to say
Other than that Vichy was absolutly horrible. Most of the skincare from the Body Shop too. Mostly all low priced brands diagree with my skin, very often too strong and zero effect.
I have too say that my skintype is "diffiult", very dehydrated combo skin wich tend to react to everything. |

| Clinique 3-step system is the worst I have ever tried thus far! Lancome is the next that irritated my skin very badly, no luck with them |

The first line that I tried when I began my skin care quest beyond the drugstore was Serious Skin Care. While I liked the Glycolic Cleanser, the BHA Clarifying solution left my face hot, broken out, and sticky after each application. It took me a while to figure out that my skin wasn't *supposed* to do that (I just figured that if I was feeling it, then the product was working-lol). After that experience, I wasn't that anxious to continue with the rest of the line, so I moved on and began to pay more attention to things like ingredients and reviews by other users. For me, Creme de La Mer was a disaster, too. It was way too emollient for my skin. I ended up using it as eye cream.
Luckily, I have never tried Clinique skincare, but I do like their Almost Lipsticks.

Yep Clinique was crap. The only thing I liked was that the bar of soap came in a handy container so it was travel savvy.
I used to use their makeup products, but then switched to Chanel which I love. I've also tried Chanel's Precision line but wasn't on it long enough to remember the outcome. Their eye makeup remover is the best though. Gets off everything! (demaquillant yeux intense)
Has anyone tried their *Chanels* eye tonic for removal of dark circles? It sound like it works..from what the chanel website says about it, "After just four weeks, 73% of consumers tested saw improvement in their dark circles; 77% saw improvement in luminosity." We'll see I might try it out...
Anyone remember St. Ives Apricot scrub?? God that was a bad product. It was so grainy it used to kill my skin and came in this god awful orange quite large tub so it was easy to take a huge glob out and slab it on your face. Of course, like WhiteLotus said, "I used it in the beginning of my quest for good skin care when I was in high school.." Also I used to use their aqua blue mask (dont know what it was called) and it burned like hell, but being immature I thought it was working..haha
Biore or however u spell it pore strips are crap too. All u end up with is a sticky film on ur nose that u have to wash off and no blackheads on the strip..just dead skin..i dunno maybe i wasnt doing it correctly
ahh those days of bad skin care products and lack of knowledge

Like you all said, Clinique is terrible. I used it since it was in my mother's makeup cabinet and my nose would flake. Thank goodness we know better now.
I can't say I like Rosebud Salve. It's expensive petroleum jelly in a tin and Lancome or Estee Lauder products are too fragranced and overwhelming.
My skin is sensitive and I have eczema so that may be the culprit. |

This is the first time i am sharing this with anyone, how i made a bobo dork of myself. Sometime, in our anxiety and trying too hard for our skins to look nice and radiant we make it worse.
I was going back to my country to see my family as i do every year. I had a wedding to attend. The wedding was my first cousins, and our family is very close to them. Anyways, coming from a family and culture where people pay OVER attention to your skin, complexion and how you look on the wedding functions made me anxious. I had come back from the beach and the area around my mouth had darkened.
I decided to try microdermabrasion. I went for it for the first time and just a week before my flight (ya i admit it was very foolish, learnt from my mistakes not to try out new stuff right before). The spa lady also recommanded that i use glyquin
with Hydroquinone USP, 4% in it on the area to lighten it to match the rest of my face. Anyways, i got home with a flushed face especially the area around my mouth, right before i went to bed i put on the Glyquin well on my face and went to sleep. I woke up all excited to see my face all smooth and glowing and LO and Behold i had completely burnt my skin and had HUGE lines which looked like moustache around the mouth, where the lady worked on. NEVER put acid or anything acidic after microdermabrasion/skin peel etc.
To make this very long story short, i was in tears and could not do anything and felt helpless. For about few days i stopped using the Glyquin before starting it again. It took more than a month and a half of peeling and the ugly marks around my face to fade just a little. The worst thing is make up wont cover and make it look worse. Anyways, sometimes we try just too hard....instead of letting it BE but i guess we learn from our mistakes like i did .
Glyquin btw, after using it for 4 months made no difference to me, i finished 2 jars and at the end thought it actually somehow made it darker.
ps: sorry went a little off topic with a bad experience with a product and using it in a wrong way. |

*cetaphil cleanser. Totally irritated my skin. I tried to use it up as a shaving lotion and broke out in a rash.
*obagi (the whole system). Made my skin super sensitive, red, broken out, painful. Did not help with my spots at all. What a waste of $$$.
*paula's choice cleansers. Tried the n/d and skin recovery. Irritated and dried out my face.
*mir from UK. A pure line dedicated to sensitive skin. Broke me out and irritated my face. I am guess it was the jojoba oil.
*dermalogica micrfoliant. Want to love the product but dried out my face.
*anything silicone based. Will give me whiteheads for sure.
*clarins products. Ok, I have only tried a few samples and the heavy fragrance gave me a headache and made me nauseous.
I have fairly normal skin that is prone to dermatitis.

I'm with you on the Clinique 3-step and I'm also not too impressed with the rosebud salve either (though I wouldn't say it's the worst). Apart from that I have been lucky in that I have not had any skin reaction or anything like that. So while I can say that there are many products I don't like, there aren't all that many that I hate. Ok, maybe EL Idealist and EL Uncircle 
Farouk - see? Aren't you glad you found out about Eminence? I love their masks but I'm not a big fan of their moisturisers (at least of the ones I have tried so far).
Amesevey - I've got the Chanel Eye Tonic. I never could resist anything gimmicky I was sold by the roll-on and the cooling feeling. I don't really need it but I'll give it a go anyway. I haven't tried it yet (it's a duty free purchase courtesy of my mum - she gets back next week). |

| clarins for me.. all those plant oils.. my skin started to burn. turn all red. .. i've noticed that alot of people don't like clinique 3 step, i've never tried it.. even tho i worked for the company. they do have some good products, I still use my SPF 25 city block. |

definitely clinique 3-step!! urgh the toner i found was tooo strong, had to hold my breath and close my eyes every time i swipe it on with a cotton ball - otherwise it'll make me cry! bad stuff. the moisturiser was equally just as bad, didnt seem to 'moiturise' at all and i was left with flakier skin.
another is Olay. made my skin peel and broke out. different skin types i suppose, a girlfriend of mine loves olay! its all she uses. |

| Everyone seems to hate clinique! i always imagined that their skinscare products were good ( i never tried) but i guess i'll stay away from it now. |
