Has any one tried using Retin-A on the back of your hands to help lighten sun damage? If so, how did it work out?
I have always heard that a woman's hands really give away her age, but I think my hands look much older than my real age.
I use always use a good spf on my hands, but the damage I have is a result of my younger years.

I always swipe some Retin A on the backs of my hands and saw some improvement but I tell you, I recently started using Mama Lotion and a Baby Quasar and my hands have improved dramatically! I am still amazed every time I look at my hands. Coloration has balanced out and the skin has plumped up and looks really hydrated. They are so....soft too. The changes happened within weeks too.

I haven't tried Retin-A but I do use a glycolic acid toner on my hands every night, when I wash my face.

I used a little Retin-A on the back of my hands last night for the first time and they seem so much softer this morning. I know it will take time to see any real results, but I was just excited that they even feel better today. I waited about an hour after application then rubbed in a good hand cream. I think I will take the same approach as with my face and slowly work up to every night.

It is a known fact that over time you will see a marked improvement in your hands. I would recommend though, using a moisturizer as well.
I having been using Retin A for so long I really can't remember how many years exactly it's been, but I'd guess around 17. The Doctor who first got me on it was a top Canadian dermatologists who was one of the first to use it, and she (at that point was using it for her hands).
I only use Retin A occasionally on my face for maintenance (once or twice weekly), and I think it has played a big part in keeping my skin looking so good.

I think you can use whatever you use for your face on your hands. I use my C serum, my retinoid (OTC Eluage), and my glycolic acid on the back of my hands.

If you already have age spots, you might think about a hydroquinone product to fade them. (My derm is down on this particular product because of long term safety concerns, but I know it does work and many people swear by it.)

I was thinking about getting the Obagi Sunfader to use on my hands so that I could get spf and hydroquinone during the day and the retin-A followed by a heavy hand cream at night.
