I'm 19 years old, and I have very pale, translucent skin. I also have very dry, sensitive skin, that is prone to redness and can easily be irritated. Can anyone recommend a foundation that will work with my skin, as well as not irritate it? |

My advice would be to get a good moisturiser and then use a mineral powder foundation over the top (like Bare Minerals, Jane Iredale etc). Mineral makeup in general covers redness very well and when used with a soft brush should not irritate your skin at all. If you don't like the idea of a powder foundation, Jane Iredale makes a mineral liquid foundation (called Bare Minerals) which is very nice. If you are very pale you will probably be a Bisque in the Liquid Minerals (which is the shade that I have). Can't guarantee that but I am very pale also and Bisque is the lightest shade in that range.

ps. I just remembered that the Liquid Minerals has lavender in it which can irritate *some* skins. I have never had any problems with it and neither has my mum (who loves the Liquid Minerals as well). Just be aware of that though. |

I use cetaphil on my skin and it keeps my skin from drying. My sister used bare essentials, but said when you're having a dry day, it really shows. She had some left over (shes more medium complected) , so when i put it on I didn't feel quite myself. Not only that, but on the infomercials they say their lightest shade is for people with golden undertones. And some of the palest people replied that the lightest shade was too dark for them. eep. |

Besides all the good advice I am a firm believer in drinking lots of WATER. I notice a hugh difference in my skin's hydration getting at least 6 8oz. glasses in a day. I try to drink more when I can.
If you drink caffinated beverages you have to drink more water!!! I love my coffee but it dehydrates my skin. |

I try to stay away from caffeine in general, but i should definately drink more water. My main concern is finding a foundation. The mineral foundations are tempting, but the color choices are too dark for me. |

I've been plauged by dry skin all my life and since I started using skinceuticles B5 gel and C serum it has improved beyond recognition! It no longer flakes or cracks, it's just normal (god I'm beginning to sound like a broken record ) If the B5 is too pricey, diannayvonne does a hyaluronic acid gel at a good price. I think that it's the HA that improved me. Maybe you could ask for a sample of C serum as well, though it may be a bit much for your skin if it's very sensitive.
Doesn't really answer your foundation querie, but I've just started using BE and if you told me 6 months ago that I'd be wearing a powder foundation I'd have thought you were mad!
