I have mature, asian type skin (nearly 40), with combination skin, and spots at the time of the month. At times my skin can look quite congested. I am looking for a good 2 in 1, ie a moisturizer with a built in sunscreen of 25+ so that i can skip the process of using 2 different products.
I was told about JJan Marine Antioxidant Daily face protectant spf30...but i can't get that in uk and also eds do not ship the product to europe.
At the moment i am using gatineau and decleor and skinceuticals. Any suggestions.
Thanks in advance

Hmm, I have normal skin and found that I really don't need a moisturizer when I use spf.
If you are already using a serum prior to spf, do you really need a moisturizer. I know shiseido spf is very drying and most people need moisturizer underneath it. |

Darphin has a moisturizer that has an SPF in it that's good for normal/combination skin..
It's called Darphin Vital Protection Day Fluid SPF/FPS 15
Darphin makes great products, they helped keep my sensitive, dry with acne skin smooth and clear. The one downside to them is their stuff costs quite a bit. Because of the price (I can't afford this b/c I'm a student now..but it's worth it!), I switched to Decleor and have had very similar results, but I see they don't have one with spf. |

Jan Marini has a lovely mositurizer with a sp 30. They have it on ES. Love it! |

When I asked my esthetician for a sunscreen that could double as a moisturizer, she recommended Skinceuticals Daily Sun Defense, SPF 20 and I've been very pleased with it.
It is called a "moisturizing, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB Sunblock with transparent zinc oxide(Z-cote).
It doesn't make my face "greasy", doesn't look white and feels very light.

Thanks for all your feedback...........initially my first choice was Winnie's recommendation of Jan Marini.......but unfortunately i can't get the product shipped to UK...because after searching the net..........only EDS do it.....and they do not ship to Europe.......as for the other two suggestions.........I'll check out Darphin as recommended by Lianne.........and see how expensive it is......probably give it a try.......and then try out Judy's suggestion.
Skinceuticals seems to be the name that contiuously comes up.........i didn't realise they did a moisturiser with a sunscreen......i'll give that a go as well.........thanks everyone............regards Kay |

Let us know what you come up with and how it works for you.
One thing I forgot to mention about the Skinceuticals product is that I use it when I go on my morning run and it isn't bad about making my eyes burn when I perspire as some sunscreens do.

Mabsy recommended Kosmea moisturizer w/ SPF30 to me, and from the sample I tried it was nice and light which would make it a good choice for combo acne prone skin. Plus it has primrose oil which would be great for mature skin (well all skin types actually as I am in my late 20's). Kosmea is from Australia and Mabsy could probably tell you more specifics. |

Whilst searching kelkoo.........i came across 'Sunsense Daily Face SPF 60'.......for £10.28 for 75ml............so what i'll do is try this one after my decleor sunscreen which is only 15spf and leaves my skin with a sheen (which is what i don't want) ....so i'll try each one of your suggestions and try to get samples first and see which one suits my skin.............thanks again for all your (very helpful) replies.............regards Kay

Yep, I'm putting in my vote for Kosmea SPF30+ lotion One of the best I've tried so far. Very light, good SPF protection, smells nice and contains natural ingredients (including green tea which is an antioxidant). It also contains aloe vera, rosehip oil, vitamin E and shea butter. I haven't had a chance to do a proper review of it yet |

Hi Mabsy.........if you don't mind me asking........do you have asian type skin?.........because i find that alot of creams suited to white skins may not be suited to asian skins.............also since there are so many good ingredients in your recommendation.........i'm sure i'll definetely be trying it out........thanks again.........Kay |

Hi Karina,
Nope, I was born in eastern europe - so think pale skin probably prone to freckling (though I've done well with the SPF ).
I'm not sure why some product would be better suited to asian skins (I've never really looked into this) but I would still recommend the Kosmea lotion (not so much the cream ). There have been good reviews of this lotion on other forums and some of the forum members (one or two of them that I know of) are asian. They have never really made a differentiation between products for asian skin types though so I'm not sure.
I think the only problem with Kosmea is that it may not be easily accessible to people who live outside of Australia. Here you can get it at health food shops and it's about Au$36 for a 50mL pump bottle of it (but I have seen it for less than that).

Thanks for that Mabsy...........on QVC they were talking about some skincare products (not makeup)........being suitable for asian skin rather that white skin..........and i also spoke to a few beauticians........who told me that some skincare was not suitable for asian skin........how they came about this........i don't know............thanks again.....regards Kay |

Mabsy ......forgot to add..............i think the reason was that asian type skins produce more oil..........ie they have much more oily skins............... .........regards Kay |

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying. So you should really go for light lotions or gel based moisturisers I guess... |

Hi everyone..................i just thought i'd update you.............i think i have just found the perfect moisturiser+sunscreen...............remember i told you all, that i'd ordered Sunsense Daily Face SPF60..............it comes from your part of the world Mabsy .....................there's an Australian map on the front of the packaging..............well anyway.............it says on the packaging:-
"Suitable tint for matt finish
Oil-free base
Suitable for normal/combination skin
Suitable for acne prone skin
Moisturising
Tested to Australian standard
Tested to Pharmaceutical standards
Blocks UV-A and UV-B rays
Regular and frequent use gives protection against premature ageing due to sun exposure
Sussense Daily Face contains a sheer tint which is invisible on the skin and gives a matt finish "
Anyway, i was very pessimistic, especially since wasting so much money on products that look 'false' on my skin, and also especially since the packaging stated that it contained a sheer tint.....................thinking .................this will definitely look false on asian skin..........not being the right shade........................but low and behold...............i was taken aback.....................it just sinks into the skin straightaway without any rubbing or anything and it certainly does not look false...............................
And since using the decleor (of which i bought 2 tubes for £36 and with only spf of 15..........i came out in loads and loads of spots)
I thought i'd share this with you all............because i think i've found the perfect product..........i'll know over the next week........that is, if it doesn't cause a reaction.........regards.........and thanks for all your help.............kay |

What are some other forums that discuss skincare and/or makeup? Not that I don't love this one, I do. But, I've looked around the web and of the forums I found, they may have 10 posts a week, or a month. So, if you know of good ones, please Mabsy, spill the beans!

Hi Karina.
Sunsense is an Australian product - it's a great sunscreen at a very good price. But, I would like to ask how you manage to get a SPF60? The highest that I've seen is a SPF30.
And Mabsy. I'm looking forward to reading your review on Kosmea moisturiser lotion. I've read great reviews for this product and I'm thinking about trying it myself. Oh, and can I second Judy's request in asking about what other websites to read reviews from. |

Do they have a discussion forum for talking with others like this one?

Judy, I frequently visit makeupalley.com, and it has several message boards such as makeup, skincare, haircare, etc. where people can post messages like we do here. The site receives a lot of traffic, so there are frequently new posts to read. It is a great place to post messages and also to look up reviews. You should check it out!
